A remark Prince Harry reportedly made about Prince William and Princess Kate during his final royal engagement has been revealed by a lip reader.

The duke’s alleged comment to his wife, Meghan Markle, came during a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March 2020.

Prince Harry’s ‘snide remark’ about Prince William and Kate

On March 9, 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. It was one of their final royal engagements.

At the end of March 2020, the couple had quit life as working royals altogether and moved across the pond.

At the service, barely a word was exchanged between Harry, William, Kate, and Meghan. This was something the Duke of Sussex was quick to remark on, apparently.

In footage of the service, William could be seen saying “hello, Harry” to his younger brother.

“Hello,” Prince Harry reportedly responded.

Meghan was also spotted saying “hi” to her sister-in-law, before saying “hello” to William, who hadn’t seemed to notice her initially.

Prince Harry’s comment to Meghan at Commonwealth service

Speaking to the Daily Star in 2021, a professional lip reader revealed what Harry said to Meghan once they’d taken their seats.

According to lip reader Jeremy Freeman, Harry turned to Meghan and said: “At least they acknowledged, unlike last time.”

Meanwhile, Prince William turned to Kate and reportedly said: “That was executed well.”

“It’s quite good to connect instead of holding things back like always,” he then told his wife.

“I know it’s bad, I ought to have words with him. He’ll shout and God knows what, but things will change, won’t it?” he then reportedly added.

Harry ‘furious’ at snub at Commonwealth Service

According to a royal author, Prince Harry had been left furious that he and Meghan had been snubbed from taking part in a certain part of the service.

The previous year, Harry and Meghan took part in the royal procession at the service. However, in 2020, only Charles, Camilla, William, and Kate were allowed.

Writing in his book, Battle of the Brothers, royal expert Robert Lacey wrote: “Harry and Meghan were not included in this senior royal group. As ‘junior’ royals they would have to shuffle their way to their seats that afternoon like any other member of the congregation and take their places on the sidelines alongside their fellow ‘juniors’, Edward and Sophie Wessex.”

Harry was reportedly “furious” to be “shunted aside on his final appearance”.

Prince William and Kate’s ‘sensitive gesture of peace’ to Harry

However, fearing an argument, William and Kate stepped in to defuse the situation. They offered to join Harry and Meghan in their seats as they waited for the queen, Charles, and Camilla to arrive.

The author called this a “small but sensitive gesture of peace”.

“Within minutes of each other, the two princes and their wives slipped quietly into their seats, and both couples then sat waiting with everyone else for the queen and Prince Charles to process in senior splendour down the aisle to open the ceremony,” he then added.
