Prince Harry is reportedly at odds with Meghan Markle over how much of the spotlight their children should experience.

New claims suggest he’s “not happy” about her recent decision to include glimpses of Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, in her social media content and lifestyle brand.

Speaking on HELLO! magazine’s A Right Royal Podcast, The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson shared insight into the growing tension between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over how public their children should be.

“My understanding of this is that, up to a certain stage, Harry would much rather his children were not seen,” Matt said. “He doesn’t want them to be papped.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘clashing over parenting styles’ with their children

While Harry, 40, appears fiercely protective of his children’s privacy – particularly after his own difficult experience growing up in the royal spotlight – Meghan, 43, is said to have a more relaxed attitude.

“[Meghan] once said she would like to have a more California-style lifestyle,” Matt explained. “Take them down the beach, go out, do stuff. She doesn’t want to hide them away.”

This difference in perspective appears to be playing out in real time. Meghan has recently shared photos of her children on social media, although always taken from behind or with their faces obscured.

Meanwhile, in February, Meghan shared a photo of Lilibet while revealing the new name of her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

She later posted snaps of Lilibet on a boat with Harry for International Women’s Day and at home with close friend Serena Williams.

“You could argue that Meghan isn’t exploiting the children,” Matt added. “But she’s using them to display her brand. She’s a mother. A homemaker and cooking at home. I don’t particularly mind her putting pictures of the children up. I think Harry probably is not overly happy.”

Meghan Markle shares glimpses of family life in Montecito

Recently, the Duchess of Sussex has shared details on her family’s life in Montecito as she launched her Netflix series and her lifestyle brand.

In March, she opened up about why she chose to film her Netflix cooking show away from her family home.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Meghan said: “I wanted to protect that safe haven. We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments — putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day. Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family.”

In addition, she said: “And with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”

As Meghan continues to grow her personal brand, royal watchers will likely pay close attention to how Harry responds.

However, it’s unclear whether the couple can navigate their differing views on privacy and parenting.
