Despite losing, the pair seemed to have a wonderful time as they were photographed celebrating and hugging. Fans were thrilled to see them look so happy – and some were shocked by how grown up George, 11, seemed.
But before the match, William took part in an interview on the TNT Sports channel. His depth of football knowledge has left fans quite shocked.

Prince William shocked with his football knowledge
In the interview, Prince William was dressed in a much more casual way than his formal royal outings, and he seemed very relaxed.
He admitted that he felt “terrified” and “really nervous” about the match, as it was a big night for their team.
William, 42, was able to list off a bunch of different facts about the sport, proving he actually does care about it.
The prince discussed tactics and gave his opinion on what he wanted to see from Villa in the game. In a surprising fact, he confirmed he was born one month before a huge Aston Villa victory.
The Prince of Wales actually has unreal football knowledge. Big, big respect to him.
Host and former footballer Rio Ferdinand even joked with William: “Can I just say something? Do not go for a punditry job please because I could be out,” as the royal laughed.
Meanwhile, fans didn’t expect him to actually know all of those details. Some appeared shocked that he is actually a proper fan.
Taking to X, one viewer wrote: “I always thought they were just into polo and rich people sports. But I am surprised and very impressed with his football knowledge.”
“Fair play. The Prince of Wales actually has unreal football knowledge. Big, big respect to him.”
A third surprised user joked that he could be about to take the royal family down a new avenue if he branches into commentary.
They penned: “The interviewers know they could be out of jobs if Prince William ever decided to do commentary. He knows so much, it’s amazing to see.”
Another wrote: “Could be an opening there if he ever needs a job.”
Meanwhile, someone else said: “Surprisingly natural. Good to know he’s got something to fall back on.”

Prince George also supported Aston Villa
It seems that William is passing down his joy for football to his eldest son, George.
For April 9’s match, George headed to Paris alongside his dad to support Aston Villa.
Their team scored the first goal of the night and so the princes looked incredibly enthusiastic, jumping up and down, hugging and sharing high fives.
While a lot of fans enjoyed the father-son duo’s close bond, many appeared shocked at how grown up George looked – specifically down to his height.
On X, many pointed out the similarities between George’s height and William’s height as a child, predicting that George may be even taller than his dad someday soon!
