What Meghan Markle eats in a day from 'vegan diet' to very British ‘favourite’ indulgence
The Duchess of Sussex's Netflix show revolves around cooking
When you search up what Meghan Markle eats in a day, you will find a slew of speculation online – claims of vegan eating habits, a strict diet and a rigorous fitness regime are some of the first to pop up.
However, the reality is very different. Keep reading so we can clear up some misconceptions about the Duchess of Sussex’s eating routine.

Meghan Markle’s food habits
Meghan’s recent cooking skills showcased on her new Netflix show With Love, Meghan put the duchess’ foodie habits on full display.
Before Meghan shut down her lifestyle blog, The Tig, in April 2017, she dubbed herself as “someone who not only loves but also appreciates the art and skill that goes into making good food,” and it seems things haven’t changed in that department!
Although life for Meghan has been a complete rollercoaster in the past decade, her love for food hasn’t faltered.
In With Love, Meghan, she touched on how her diet has endured a complete overhaul and what her eating habits previously looked like.
She touched on her childhood in episode eight, explaining that fast food was a staple in her diet as it was “cheaper”.
Unfortunately, Meghan also pointed out that these habits have cost her more for her brain and body in the long run, explaining her clean approach to eating these days.

What does Meghan Markle have for breakfast?
Meghan reportedly always starts out her day with a nutritious breakfast.
In the biography Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand share a glimpse into what Meghan’s first meal of the day looks like.
They said: “Her morning ritual started with a cup of hot water and a slice of lemon, followed by her favourite breakfast of steel-cut oats (usually made with almond or soy milk) with bananas and agave syrup for sweetness.”
In her Netflix series, Meghan also expressed a love for crepes, frying bacon and of course, her beloved homemade preserves.
Meghan is also said to enjoy omelette with cheese, fresh herbs and a side of toast. Avocado on toast topped with home-reared eggs is also a regular on her daily menu.
Is Meghan Markle vegetarian or vegan?
As you may notice so far, Meghan’s diet is very much varied and notably not vegan all of the time. In fact, plenty of what she cooks up includes eggs!
However, she did tell Best Health in 2015 that she cuts out certain food groups to improve the way she feels.
She said: “I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.
“But at the same time, it’s all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating.”
However, since that interview was 10 years ago, it’s unclear if Meghan still follows this routine.

Does Meghan Markle eat gluten?
Meghan has also stated she avoids gluten-based dishes during the week to improve her skin and energy levels, but her entire diet is not gluten-free.
Although Meghan seems to opt for the healthy option more often than not, she is still a lover of fries. Or, as Brits typically call them, chips!

Fish and chips are famously a British staple, so it is no surprise that Meghan is fond of them after her stint of living in the UK.
“I’m always hoping I’m having lunch with people, so we can share fries. It’s its own food group for me,” Meghan has previously said, according to Hello.
Meghan Markle’s favourite food
It seems Meghan’s love for chips is something she shares with her husband Prince Harry.
In a heartfelt Valentine’s Day post earlier this year, Meghan showed off her balanced approach to her diet in a snap whilst smooching Harry. She joked in the caption: “I will eat burgers and fries and fish and chips with you forever.”
Although Meghan isn’t afraid of indulging, some of her favourite lunches are on the healthier side, include sashimi or salads.
Meghan is also said to be fond of a green juice. Speaking to Today, she explained: “It’s easy to fall into the trap of rushing for a coffee when you hit that 4 p.m. slump.
“But if I blend some apple, kale, spinach, lemon, and ginger in my in the morning and bring it to work, I always find that sipping on that is a much better boost than a cup of espresso.”
In Finding Freedom biographers Scobie and Durand revealed Meghan’s favourite snack: “For snacks in between meals, she opted for apple slices and peanut butter.”

Meghan Markle’s diet mantra: ‘Do the things you enjoy’
Meghan’s approach to food seems to be a very positive one and she doesn’t appear to restrict herself from having some little indulgences.
Even her list of comfort food is varied, from craving fajitas whilst pregnant to enjoying mac and cheese and being a lover of seafood.
Meghan also enjoys a tipple every now and then – in fact, an Italian wine called Tignanello inspired the name of her lifestyle blog, The Tig.
Meghan has previously explained: “Of course I’m going to have that glass of wine – it’s delicious and I enjoy it. Do the things you enjoy within reason. Know your body and what works for you and you’ll be fine.”
