Queen Camilla admits 'sadness' for her and King Charles amid Italy trip
The king and queen have finished their state visit to ItalyQueen Camilla admitted she and King Charles were “very sad to be going home” as their Italy trip came to an end.
The king, 76, and queen, 77, have been exploring parts of Italy as part of a state visit. The trip included a “special moment” between the royal couple and Pope Francis, who is recovering from double pneumonia.
But Queen Camilla and King Charles’ visit came to an end on Thursday (April 10) and they both shared their thoughts on the state visit, which coincided with their 20th wedding anniversary.

Queen Camilla and King Charles enjoy Italy state visit
During the state visit, the king and queen visited Rome and Ravenna. They enjoyed a string of engagements including a state banquet at the Palazzo Quirinale hosted by President Mattarella.
King Charles also addressed a joint session of the Italian Parliament – the first monarch to do so.

During all the official visits, Charles and Camilla were greeted with a warm welcome from the Italian people.
At one point during an outing, they were swarmed by fans as they tried to catch a glimpse of the royal couple.
Reflecting on the trip on their last day on Thursday, Camilla admitted sadness.

Queen Camilla told PEOPLE: “We’re having a wonderful visit. We’re very sad to be going home.”
When asked if they were having a good visit, the king said: “Yes, thank you, very much.”
During their Italy trip, King Charles and Queen Camilla marked their 20th wedding anniversary. They tied the knot in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall on April 9, 2005.
As the pair enjoyed the state banquet on their anniversary, the king made a speech. He quipped: “Today marks the queen’s and my twentieth wedding anniversary.
“On that score, I must say it really is very good of you, Mr. President, to lay on this small romantic, candle-lit dinner for two…!”

King is ‘the most confident he has ever been’ on trip to Italy
It’s clear to see that the king and queen enjoyed their overseas trip. According to a body language expert, King Charles looked the “most confident he has ever been”.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Darren Stanton said of the monarch: “The king’s speech was very smooth and assured. His voice tone was constant and there were no breaks or cracks, no pitch changes. I really think he came off as though he is the most confident he has ever been.

“It was clear that everyone was getting on very well. The genuine happiness from the king and queen was reciprocated by all of the Italian delegates.”
