Why Queen Camilla 'wasn't keen' on Kate Middleton before Prince William marriage

The queen, 77, and the future queen consort, 43, seem closer than ever now. But in the early days of Kate’s romance with Prince William, it’s said that Camilla had her reservations.
Royal author Tom Quinn once made the claims in a documentary, saying that Camilla “later warmed” to Kate.
Does Queen Camilla like Kate Middleton?
Queen Camilla and Kate, Princess of Wales, now share a close friendship. However, during Kate and William’s early days of dating, Camilla apparently thought there was “too much of a gap” between the couple’s interests.
Speaking on Channel 5’s documentary, When the Middletons met the Monarchy, Quinn claimed: “I’d heard that Camilla wasn’t very keen on Catherine.
“She didn’t shoot, she wasn’t very interested in horses particularly. There was too much of a gap and William would feel it.”
Quinn added: “But I think it’s true to say that Camilla later warmed to Catherine and recognised her solid virtues.”
Camilla and Kate’s relationship now
Years later and the pair seem closer than ever. Speaking on GB News, royal biographer Angela Levin previously detailed the pair’s friendship.
She said: “Camilla gets on very, very well with Catherine and helped her to understand the way you needed to be in the palace because it’s very difficult.”
I think it’s true to say that Camilla later warmed to Catherine and recognised her solid virtues.
Meanwhile, royal author Katie Nicholl previously said that Camilla helped Kate when she married into the monarchy.
She said in a Channel 5 documentary: “Kate didn’t know how to be royal, so she would have been an outsider. She was pursued by the press and Camilla knew how that felt.”
Queen Camilla’s marriage advice to Kate
Elsewhere, reports claimed that Queen Camilla had some advice for Kate on how to maintain a happy marriage.
According to royal author Robert Lacey in his book Battle of Brothers, Camilla advised Kate: “The secret of hanging on to a busy prince is to fit your timetable — well, basically your whole life — around his.”

Kate married into the royal family in 2011 – six years after Camilla married King Charles. As the current queen consort, Camilla is in the position that Kate will fill when Prince William becomes monarch.
