Prince William has reportedly made it clear he prefers to avoid spending time with his uncle Prince Andrew, despite the disgraced royal being welcomed into the family fold during Easter celebrations at Windsor Castle.

On April 20, Prince Andrew, 65, joined brother King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, at St George’s Chapel for the annual Easter Sunday service alongside his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

Noticeably absent from the royal gathering were the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The couple remained in Norfolk with their children. However, insiders claim that this decision was not solely about family time.

Prince William ‘has no time’ for Prince Andrew

According to a source, Prince William’s absence also reflected his personal discomfort with the Duke of York’s continued presence at such events.

“William has no time for his uncle,” the source told the Mirror. “This Easter was about spending time with his own family. But he would far prefer a situation where he doesn’t have to spend time with him.”

Reports allege that the Prince of Wales was instrumental in removing Andrew from public royal duties following his 2019 BBC Newsnight interview. The disastrous interview saw Andrew address his ties to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

He would far prefer a situation where he doesn’t have to spend time with him.

The fallout from the interview led to Andrew stepping back from official engagements. He later settled out of court in a civil case brought by Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault.

Andrew has always vehemently denied these claims.

Although King Charles has continued to allow Andrew limited participation in family occasions, tensions remain.

William was seen with his uncle during the summer of 2023, even driving him to church in Balmoral. But behind the scenes, sources claim William believes Andrew’s presence tarnishes the family’s image.

Prince Andrew scandal

Adding to the friction is Andrew’s refusal to leave Royal Lodge, the 30-room mansion he still occupies on the Windsor estate, despite the king’s offer of alternative accommodation.

This has reportedly caused further strain among senior royals, particularly with Prince William.

A palace insider noted: “The duke seems to be in the habit of being a significant contributor of headaches for the family. Many have run out of patience with him.”

Adding to Andrew’s controversies is his alleged link to Chinese businessman Yang Tengbo, who was banned from entering the UK in 2023 over national security concerns.

Andrew was described as having an “unusual degree of trust” in Mr Yang. Yang co-founded the duke’s now-defunct business initiative, Pitch@Palace. It’s also alleged that Andrew held undisclosed meetings with King Charles about an investment fund linked to Yang.

Despite the cloud surrounding him, Andrew was welcomed at this year’s Easter service.

He arrived with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, and was later seen with Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

The king and queen greeted well-wishers after the service, while Andrew kept a lower profile.
