Prince William and Kate Middleton are preparing to celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary in a setting close to their hearts – the rugged beauty of the Scottish Isles.
Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Prince and Princess of Wales will mark their special day on the Isle of Mull, visiting the town of Tobermory on Monday, April 29 – the very date of their 2011 royal wedding.
The visit is part of a two-day trip from April 29 to April 30. During the visit, the couple will engage with rural island communities and tour local businesses.
It follows in the footsteps of King Charles and Queen Camilla, who recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on a visit to Italy as they carried out engagements.

The couple’s decision to spend their anniversary in Scotland holds special significance. It was at the University of St Andrews, on Scotland’s east coast, that they first met as students in 2001.
During their time in Tobermory, Prince William, 42, and Kate, 43, will visit a local community hub and explore an artisan market, meeting locals and small business owners.
They are also set to tour a working croft to learn about sustainable farming and hospitality.
During their visit to the Scottish Isles, their Royal Highnesses will spend time with members of the local community.
On the second day of their trip, the couple will join local schoolchildren in an ancient woodland. They will connect with the Mull and Iona Ranger Service, which supports conservation and education across the islands.
“During their visit to the Scottish Isles, their Royal Highnesses will spend time with members of the local community reflecting on the power of social connection and the importance of protecting and championing the natural environment,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. “Two subjects which are close to both of their Royal Highnesses’ hearts.”
The palace emphasised that the visit is part of the couple’s wider effort to highlight the resilience and vibrancy of rural communities across the UK.
How long has Kate Middleton been married to Prince William?
Prince William and Kate will have been married for 14 years on April 29. They tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on that day in 2011.
In 2023, to mark their 12th anniversary, the palace released a previously unseen black-and-white portrait of the couple on their wedding day.
The image was taken just moments after their Westminster Abbey ceremony. It showed Kate in her iconic Alexander McQueen bridal gown and William in his Irish Guards uniform.
This year’s anniversary arrives as Princess Kate continues her recovery. Earlier this year, she shared with the public that she is in remission following cancer treatment in 2024.
The princess has made limited public appearances in recent months. However, this visit to Scotland is expected to be a milestone moment as she gently returns to royal duties.

The lavish ceremony took place at Westminster Abbey - where Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip married in 1947.
More than 5,000 street parties took place on William and Kate's big day across the UK. It's believed that a million people lined the route between the Abbey and Buckingham Palace to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds.
Meanwhile, the ceremony was watched by tens of millions around the world. TV audiences in the UK also peaked at 26.3 million viewers.
Kate Middleton's wedding dress
Kate's stunning long-sleeved, lace dress was designed by English designer Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
It's reported that Kate's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, paid for the dress.
It featured long lace sleeves and an ivory satin Victorian-inspired corset bodice which was "narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips".
The dress had an appliquéd full skirt and a nine-foot train.
How much did the royal wedding cost?
According to reports and estimates, the overall cost of the royal wedding came to £23.7 million. Both the royal family and Kate's family covered part of the costs.
Security and transport was covered by Her Majesty's Treasury - in other words, the tax-payer. William and Kate asked donations be made to charities in place of traditional wedding gifts.
William and Kate’s relationship began over two decades ago. Millions around the world watched the pair’s fairytale wedding.
In the years since, they’ve welcomed three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, almost seven, – and taken on prominent roles within the monarchy.
Following Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022, the couple inherited their current titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.
