New photo of Prince Louis released to celebrate his seventh birthday

The official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account has released a new photograph – which you can see here – of Prince Louis this morning.

In the photo for their 16.7 million followers, the young royal can be seen sitting on a log whilst on a walk outside.

Louis is smiling whilst wearing a green jumper, a white collared shirt and blue jeans.

Perhaps most noticeable, however, is the lack of his two front teeth!

“Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday!” reads the caption of the adorable post. The account has also tagged the photographer, Josh Shinner.

The photo has been liked over 100,000 times since being uploaded. Thousands have commented too.

Thousands of royal fans have taken to the comment section to not only gush over the photo, but also send Louis their birthday wishes.

“Happy birthday Prince Louis! He looks like William here,” one fan commented.

“Ahh happy birthday Prince Louis, you are growing up so quickly and those missing teeth, just the sweetest. Have the best day ever,” another gushed.

“That smile!” a third wrote.

“So grown up… At the stage of losing teeth,” another fan said.

“Happy birthday Prince Louis. It feels like just yesterday we welcomed our little Prince Louis,” a fifth added.

Palace shares adorable video of Prince Louis

Not only have royal fans been gifted a new snap of Louis, a clip of behind the scenes footage of Louis during his photoshoot has been shared to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media.

The video, recorded against a backdrop of luscious greenery, sees Louis peer into the camera, wander amid trees and pose beside clusters of lavender flowers.

In one shot, the cheeky prince event suggests he goes on a little adventure and “jump down,” from a log, which he is seen doing in a later frame.

He bravely insists: “I can jump down from here.”

Clearly a lover of the outdoors, in other frames, Louis is seen grinning directly at the camera and sitting on a tree stump.

The message penned in the caption alongside the footage stated: “Seven today!”

How lovely!

Royal observers, of course, are in awe of the footage. One lovingly penned in the comment section: “Love this! Thank you for sharing Prince Louis with us! He’s amazing!”

Another gushed: “Love this! Thank you for sharing this special video of Prince Louis with us. We truly appreciate it!”

“Happy birthday to the most iconic of the family,” said a third.

Did Kate Middleton take a picture of Prince Louis for his birthday?

Though Kate regularly takes photos and posts them on the Waleses’ official Instagram, she isn’t the one who took the photo of Prince Louis for his seventh birthday.

Photographer Josh Shinner was behind the camera on this occasion.

Shinner has photographed the Waleses in the past. He was behind their 2023 Christmas card – which you can see here – where the Waleses posed in white shirts and dark trousers.

He has also photographed celebrities such as Florence Pugh, Andrew Scott and Gemma Chan.

Special privilege Prince Louis can enjoy now he’s seven

Now that he’s turned seven, Louis is finally eligible for a special privilege at Lambrook School.

Lambrook School offers students the choice between “weekly and flexi-boarding” or being a day student.

However, boarding – even if it’s just for one night – only applies to children over the age of seven.

From today, Louis, who is a day student at the school, could stay over on occasion at the school if he ever wants to!

His older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte also have this luxury, with them being 11 and nine respectively.
