Prince Louis’ now iconic antics during Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations in 2022 cemented him as one of the most entertaining royals to watch.

However, his behaviour during one particular event did lead to mum Kate Middleton being hit with some backlash…

Prince Louis at the platinum jubilee concert

Back in 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her platinum jubilee – which marked her 70 years on the throne – with a extended bank holiday weekend in June.

One of the numerous events lined up for the historic event was the jubilee pageant. The parade took place near Buckingham Palace.

Whilst the event got millions talking, even more were discussing Prince Louis‘ behaviour as he watched proceedings in the royal box.

The young royal, who was four at the time, was seen pulling silly faces and even hushed mum Kate by putting his hand over her mouth at one point.

Most royal fans saw the funny side of Prince Louis’ antics. However, some rather grumpy fans felt as though Kate should have done more to control her youngest son.

“Louis is four, but there does need to be discipline. Kate was struggling badly,” one fan tweeted at the time.

“He’s spoiled rotten,” another fumed.

“That’s what happens when parents don’t raise their children,” a third said.

Kate Middleton defended over Prince Louis’ behaviour at the jubilee

Supernanny Jo Frost, however, quickly defended Kate and Louis. She even said that Louis appeared well-behaved at the pageant considering the circumstances.

Taking to Instagram at the time, Jo – who worked as a nanny for over 30 years and used her expertise in her TV series Supernanny – said: “Prince Louis behaved remarkably well.

I’m more impressed with how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continue to be such impressive parenting role models to our modern parents.

“All that sitting, watching and organisation, most children can’t sit in their chairs at a dining table for longer than 15 mins. It certainly must have been beautifully overwhelming for this little chap, especially with no playtime in between and long days, children are going to test, one should expect as such.”

“We have all been entertained by this little boy’s character, a great sense of humor, strong-willed and most definitely a highly sensitive soul in my professional opinion,” she then said.

“I’m more impressed with how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continue to be such impressive parenting role models to our modern parents today, they are open about their own struggles as parents and like all parents out there continue to strive to do their very best in raising their young.”

What did Charlotte say to Louis on the balcony?

Louis’ mischievous antics have often resulted in a ticking off from his older siblings too. During last year’s Trooping the Colour ceremony – a parade that celebrates the monarch’s official birthday – Princess Charlotte told Louis off during a balcony moment.

As the national anthem played, Charlotte reportedly told her younger brother to get his hands out of his pockets.

Elsewhere in another moment from the celebrations, Louis enjoyed a dance on a balcony as he, his siblings and mum Kate watched the parade.

However, according to lip reader Nicola Hickling as reported by the Mirror, Charlotte told Louis: “You have to stop doing that. Watch the parade.”

He cheekily replied, according to Nicola: “I won’t.”

Charlotte told him again: “Do as you’re told,” to which Louis responded: “Nope.”
