How Prince Louis’ special bond with grandparents has flourished amid Kate’s cancer recovery
Louis even made a sweet gesture to show his affection...
Prince Louis, who turns seven today, is said to have a special bond with his grandparents.
A bond that has flourished even more amid his mother Princess Kate’s recovery from cancer, after her diagnosis in March 2024.
The young prince, apparently a lover of sports and music, has a strong relationship with his grandparents on his mother’s side.
Their bond is so strong, it is something Louis is said to be grateful for.

Prince Louis’ bond with his grandparents
Prince Louis’ grandparents, Michael and Carole Middleton, have played a vital role in the support of the Waleses in wake of Kate’s diagnosis.
Princess Kate’s parents have reportedly helped maintain a sense of normality for Louis, George and Charlotte. Evidently, a necessary support system as Kate and William have navigated the Princess of Wales’ recovery.
Carole has previously been seen at school drop-off and the couple are also said to have hosted sleepovers for their grandchildren – likely to give their mother some much needed rest and recuperation.
When Princess Kate shared her update video back in September 2024, footage of her parents playing cards with their grandchildren was put on full display. The touching moment saw the family spending quality time together, with plenty of smiles.

Prince Louis’ affection for his grandparents was also brought to attention during the festive season at Westminster Abbey carol concert.
The young prince was seen holding handwritten note, paying tribute to Carole and Michael. It that read: “Thank you for granny and grandpa because they have played games with me.”
Louis’ thoughtful note joined the “kindness tree”, where guests were invited to share messages of gratitude. How sweet!
What was Prince Louis’s nickname for his grandparents?
Of course, Louis’ handwritten note also exposed his nickname for his grandparents, whom he dubs as granny and grandpa – awww!
Undoubtedly, Michael and Carole Middleton’s presence in their grandchildren’s lives has helped Princess Kate during her recovery from cancer.
“This is about supporting her and her feeling supported. It is a joint effort. She doesn’t feel isolated at all,” a family friend previously told People.
Another palace insider reportedly claimed: “Her parents are an enduring factor in the upbringing of their grandchildren.”
Louis’ bond with his grandparents is said to run even deeper than enjoying shared activities. Some fans even say Prince Louis looks very similar to his grandfather, Michael.
The pair seem to make similar expressions including smiles, yawns and putting their heads in their hands in a comparable manner.
King Charles’ relationship with his grandchildren
Prince Louis’ closeness with his maternal grandparents may be part of why King Charles has reportedly privately expressed his frustration about not seeing his grandchildren as much as the Middleton family do.
According to MailOnline, in a documentary marking King Charles’ 70th birthday, William said he wished his workaholic father could spend more time with his grandchildren.
Despite this, Charles has been described as “brilliant” grandfather. The king reportedly feels happy to crawl on the floor and make silly noises just to please his grandchildren.
It seems the Wales children are lucky to have their grandparents!
