Queen Elizabeth’s 'unfiltered thoughts' on Donald and Melania Trump behind palace doors

A bombshell royal book made the claims

The royal family and Queen Elizabeth II met Donald Trump and his wife Melania on many occasions during the former TV star’s first term in the White House.

Donald Trump and his wife were hosted for an official state visit to Britain in 2019 by the royal family. They previously enjoyed tea in a private meeting with the Queen at Windsor Castle in 2018 during a work visit. The state visit banquet included other royal family members, such as the likes of Prince William and Kate Middleton attending the event.

Trump is preparing to travel to the UK for his second state visit to the country. It comes after he received a personal invitation from King Charles.

However, a royal author claimed last year, ahead of Trumps’ reelection, that the late monarch found him ‘very rude’ during his trip – which he later denied.

Queen Elizabeth also had ‘thoughts’ about his marriage to Melania Trump, it was also claimed.

Queen Elizabeth found Donald Trump ‘very rude’

Author Craig Brown wrote in his book, A Voyage Around The Queen, that Her Majesty reportedly found the president ‘rude’ after spending time with the American native.

The Queen was known for keeping her personal thoughts and opinions to herself, dedicating herself to life and duty throughout her 70-year reign. But she reportedly confided in a guest about her feelings towards The Apprentice star.

Brown wrote in his book: “Over the course of her reign, Her Majesty entertained many controversial leaders, including Robert Mugabe, Idi Amin, Donald Trump, Emperor Hirohito and Vladimir Putin. She may not have found their company convivial, and may even have voiced a word of disapproval.

“A few weeks after President Trump’s visit, she confided in a lunch guest that she found him ‘very rude’, particularly disliking the way he couldn’t stop looking over her shoulder, as if in search of others more interesting.”

Queen Elizabeth ‘believed’ Melania Trump conspiracy theory

He went on to add that Queen Elizabeth reportedly believed in a Melania Trump conspiracy theory that the model had an ‘arrangement’ with Donald and didn’t marry him for love.

The reports came out ahead of the US election in 2024, and Donald Trump’s team slammed the claims and called them ‘fake news’.

“This is nothing more than fake news intended to use made-up, salacious fabrications in order to sell copies of a book that belongs in the bargain bin of the fiction section,” a spokesperson said at the time.

It followed reports made by her friend Monty Roberts, who reiterated the idea she didn’t like the president in a documentary called The Cowboy and the Queen. During the show, when he was watching a new clip of Donald Trump, he remarked “the Queen didn’t like him”.

He later backed his statement, stating her majesty “said that”.

Princess Margaret joke ‘annoyed’ the monarch

Then it was claimed a dig at the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret rubbed the monarch up the wrong way.

An insider told the Daily Mail that during Donald Trump’s visit to the UK in 2018, he cracked the joke which upset Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal expert Richard Eden claimed a source had told him: “Trump put his foot in it by saying Margaret must have been a difficult sister. The Queen was very annoyed with this remark, which she viewed as ignorant and hurtful. She always defended Margaret to the hilt.”

However, former gardener Jack Stooks, who worked for the now King Charles, dismissed the idea, as the reports came out following her death.

“We know what The Queen was like as a person,” he told GBNews. “We know that in her reign, she never put a foot wrong. So why would she suddenly get to a point in her life where she suddenly goes, ‘oh, let’s put my foot wrong?”

Trump says he was the Queen’s ‘favourite president’

Donald Trump, on the other hand, denied the claims there was any friction between him and the royal family.

He went further and said he was the monarch’s ‘favourite president’.

Trump, who admired the queen, said: “I have no idea who the writer is, but it was really just the opposite. I had a great relationship with the queen. She liked me and I liked her.”

And he added: “We spent hours together at a state dinner. She was a fantastic woman. I think it’s a shame that a sleaze bag can write an article that’s totally false. In fact, I’ve heard always the opposite.”

“I heard I was her favourite president, and you’ve heard that too. She would say it to a lot of people.”

In the Queen’s world of quiet diplomacy and polished decorum, Donald Trump was a curious chapter — one which King Charles is eager to see a sequel.
