George Clooney's 'true feelings' towards Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

As George Clooney celebrates his birthday today, a resurfaced article sheds new light on his once high-profile friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and how it may have quietly shifted in recent years.
The Hollywood star and his wife, Amal Clooney, were among the most glamorous guests at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2018 royal wedding.
Their presence at the chapel suggested a close friendship with the newlyweds.
But behind the scenes, the dynamic may not have been as intimate as it appeared.
George Clooney’s relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
British journalist Rachel Johnson shared an eyebrow-raising anecdote in AirMail, claiming how Carolyn Bartholomew, Princess Diana’s former flatmate, struck up a conversation with George and Amal Clooney at the wedding.
“She turned to the couple next to her and asked how they knew Harry or Meghan,” Rachel wrote.
“We don’t,” George and Amal reportedly replied.
Despite the alleged confession, the Clooneys appeared to grow closer to the Sussexes following the wedding, particularly Meghan’s friendship with Amal Clooney.
A source told PEOPLE magazine in 2018, days after the royal wedding: “Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life. It was a very natural friendship from day one.”
The human rights lawyer even reportedlyattended Meghan’s baby shower in 2019.
They’re a very loving couple, and they’re going to be great parents.
In the months after the royal wedding, the Clooneys reportedly hosted the Sussexes at their Lake Como villa.
George and Harry apparently bonded over a shared love of motorcycles and shot some hoops together.
Royal biographer Omid Scobie revealed: “George and Harry have a shared passion for motorcycles and checked out George’s collection. They also played basketball together.”
Then, speaking to MailOnline in 2019, George himself gushed about their budding friendship.
“We live not too far from one another, and we have dinners and stuff, and we’re friends with them for all the reasons that you’re friends with anybody,” he shared. “They’re just really nice, fun, kind people. They’re a very loving couple, and they’re going to be great parents.”

Despite those early warm words, reports in recent years suggest the friendship has cooled significantly.
In 2023, royal insiders claimed that George and Amal have become more aligned with King Charles, sparking speculation that they are stepping back from the Sussexes’ orbit.
The Clooneys were spotted attending a Prince’s Trust event in London in 2023 – an engagement closely linked to the king – even as tensions between Charles and Harry remained strained following the Sussexes’ departure from royal life in 2020.
One source stated, according to the MailOnline: “The Clooneys clearly want to be on good terms with the king and the royal family.”
George has remained publicly silent on any fallout rumours.
However, his absence from Harry and Meghan’s recent milestones has fueled speculation that the once-strong connection has faded.
Whether or not George and Harry remain close today is unclear.
While there’s no official rift, the Clooneys’ visible alignment with King Charles has prompted royal watchers to question whether they are keeping their distance from the Sussexes amid ongoing family tensions.
