Prince William's heartbreaking statement following tragic attack of wildlife rangers
It's not the first time he has expressed his sadnessPrince William has issued a personal statement following a horrific attack on two wildfire rangers.
The Prince of Wales, 42, has quite often highlighted the issue of poaching. He has now paid tribute to the two rangers who lost their lives in an attack in Mozambique.
On April 29 there was an attack in Northern Mozambique when two anti-poaching scouts were killed by a suspected insurgent group. A further two’s whereabouts remain unknown and another was “severely” wounded according to reports. Now, Prince William has shared his upset at the heartbreaking news.

Prince William shares new statement after attack
After the attack was confirmed by Niassa Carnivore Project, a group that works to “conserve lions and their prey in Niassa Special Reserve by promoting coexistence and a shared respect for people, their culture, wildlife and the environment”, Prince William acknowledged it.
He posted on X, resharing the United For Wildlife’s message against the attack, adding his own personal touch.
William wrote: “This attack is yet another brutal reminder of the immense sacrifices made by those protecting our natural world.

The reality is that being a ranger has become one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet. My thoughts are with all those affected and their families. W https://t.co/GVlzIdmTGH

William has his own interest in the cause due to his involvement with anti-poaching measures over the years.

This attack is unfortunately not the first time that the prince has paid tribute to rangers who have lost their lives on duty.
It’s not a new passion for William. It runs way back more than a decade ago when he began highlighting the issue to the world.

What is William’s interest in anti-poaching?
In 2012, Prince William called for action to stop the illegal trade in rhino horns.
He told the BBC at the time: “Along with elephants, they’re two of the most heavily poached animals currently in the world. If we don’t do something about them it’s going to be a tragic loss for everyone.”
In 2013, William helped launch the Tusk Awards and he regularly attends the ceremonies. The aim is to recognise the dedication of individuals who are conservation leaders and wildfire rangers across Africa.
Just last year, William expressed his hopes that his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte – who is following in Princess Anne’s footsteps – and Prince Louis, will grow up in a world full of all animals.
He said at the Tusk Awards: “I want my children to live in a world where swallows still migrate, gorillas still live in the cloud forests of Uganda, and rhinos still roam the arid rangelands of Namibia.”
At the awards, he also paid tribute to those who had lost their lives. He said: “The sobering Roll of Honour that we saw earlier recognises the rangers who lost their lives. It serves as a reminder of the ultimate price paid by too many on the frontline of the conservation.”
