Prince William and wife Kate Middleton have attended a thanksgiving service to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day at Westminster Abbey today.

Members of the royal family attended the service on Thursday to mark Victory in Europe Day – the day celebrating the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces in 1945.

King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, attended alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, her husband Sir Timothy Laurence and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Senior members of the royal family were seen arriving at Westminster Abbey for the service.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were all smiles arriving. Kate, 43, looked stunning in a white and black Alessandra Rich polka dot dress which featured a high neckline and long sleeves.

The princess wore a black head fascinator, beige heels and a beige bag to complete the look.

Meanwhile, Prince William, 42, looked smart in a navy suit for the service.

Queen Camilla also opted for white today as she wowed in a coat dress and white and black hat. She also wore white gloves and a white clutch bag. The king wore a navy pinstriped suit.

Royal fans were stunned by Kate’s look today as one person gushed on X: “Princess of Wales looks stunning today.”

Another wrote: “The Princess of Wales looking her ever elegant self at the VE Day service in Westminster Abbey… love her dress!”

Someone else added: “The Princess of Wales looks beautiful as always.”

Others said the dress was a subtle nod to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, who also seemed to be a fan of white and black polka dot looks for royal events.

After that, King Charles laid a wreath inside the Abbey, as did Prince William.

A note from the Prince and Princess of Wales was attached to the wreath. It read: “For those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War. We will remember them.”

It was signed by both William and Kate.

The king’s wreath had a note attached that read: “We will never forget. Charles R.”

They also attended a military parade to mark the anniversary. But it was Prince Louis, seven, who stole the show at the events thanks to his funny faces and antics.

In one moment, he was seen hilariously mimicking his older brother Prince George, 11, by flicking his hair dramatically.

The royal youngster was also spotted dusting off his father William’s uniform during the parade.
