Zara Tindall has offered a behind-the-scenes look at life inside the royal family, admitting that, despite their high profile, they face the same challenges as any other family.

Speaking at the London Sporting Club lunch at the glamorous Quaglino’s restaurant in St James, Zara addressed growing public curiosity around the royal household, particularly in light of the alleged rift between King Charles and Prince Harry. It comes after Harry’s recent explosive BBC interview.

“It is very hard to see from the outside,” Zara said, according to The Sun. “But, 100 per cent, it is a family that is still going through the same struggles other people do.”

King Charles’ niece continued by emphasising that while relationships within the family may seem under constant public scrutiny, there is still unity behind the scenes.

She said: “Whether they are relationships, obviously, it is very easy to see every day. We’re still very supportive of each other.”

Meanwhile, Zara also made a speech at the lunch. She reflected on the influence of her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022.

“We had a very incredible person to look up to who is sadly not here any more,” Zara said. “She was amazing and an inspiration to all of us.”

But, 100 per cent, it is a family that is still going through the same struggles other people do.

Known for her down-to-earth nature, the royal also entertained the audience by sharing a hilariously unfiltered story from her early relationship with rugby star Mike Tindall.

“I said, ‘If you get naked, I will give you a kiss,'” she recalled with a laugh. “So, he got naked, I gave him a kiss and then… anyway.”

She went on to reveal that she had to call a friend to help move the “20-stone rugby player” after he passed out drunk that night.

While many senior royals were attending VE Day celebrations, including a grand RAF flypast and a thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey, Zara was instead spotted at the chic Sporting Club luncheon.

In a glowing Instagram post, the organisers described Zara as: “Exceptional. Funny, revealing, honest. Whether it was about her sporting career, life married to Mike Tindall, or being a part of the royal family, Zara left no stone unturned.”

Why did Anne name her daughter Zara?

Zara is the niece of King Charles and daughter of Princess Anne.

When it came time to name her daughter, Princess Anne accepted a suggestion from her brother, then Prince Charles.

The name Zara, of Greek origin, means “bright as the dawn” or “radiant”.

“The baby made a rather sudden and positive arrival,” Princess Anne reportedly explained. “And my brother thought Zara was an appropriate name.”

Anne and her then husband, Mark Phillips, liked it immediately, and it was the only name they seriously considered.
