Touching moment between King Charles and sister Princess Anne spotted at Windsor Castle
Charles and Anne are known for having a close relationship
King Charles and his sister Princess Anne appeared side by side on Monday at a ceremonial parade at Windsor Castle.
They presented new Standards to The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals of the Household Cavalry.
The event marked not just a historic military tradition, but a touching moment between two of the monarchy’s most important figures.

In a photo shared to social media – which you can see here – the 76-year-old monarch was captured turning toward his sister, 74, with a warm smile as they stood together in full ceremonial uniform.
The image quickly garnered emotional reactions from royal watchers.
“He is so proud of his little sister,” one fan wrote.
“HRH Princess Anne is and always has been a rock to HRM King Charles!” Another gushed. “She has always worked tirelessly for the royal family and supported her brother loyally!”
A third added: “Love this photo.”
He is so proud of his little sister.
King Charles, in his role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Household Cavalry, and Princess Anne, Colonel of The Blues and Royals, attended the presentation of new Standards – beautifully embroidered flags that symbolise history, honour, and identity.
The new Union Standards were made from silk damask with gold and silver embroidery.
During the proceedings, Charles wore his Field Marshal’s uniform.
Meanwhile, Anne donned the Full Mounted Ceremonial uniform of the Blues and Royals, complete with the distinctive bicorn hat.
HELLO!’s Royal Editor Emily Nash reflected on the significance of the moment.
“It’s always great to see the king and Princess Royal out on engagements together. They have such a close bond and so much shared experience of supporting their military patronages,” she said.
“It’s also a ceremony that the late Queen Elizabeth took part in so many times throughout her reign. I’m sure it means a lot to them to continue that tradition together.”

King Charles’ close bond with Princess Anne
Charles and Anne’s close relationship has been visible during countless public moments.
Anne also served as Gold Stick-in-Waiting at Charles’ coronation in 2023. It’s a ceremonial position traditionally entrusted to someone responsible for the monarch’s personal safety.
Their shared commitment to military service, sustainability, gardening, and a love of horse riding and the outdoors only deepened their bond.
In a past interview with Simon Armitage on BBC Radio 4, the king reminisced fondly.
The then Prince Charles said in 2021: “My sister and I had a little vegetable patch in the back of some border somewhere. We had great fun trying to grow tomatoes rather unsuccessfully and things like that.”
King Charles details ‘global uncertainty’ in Windsor Castle speech
During his speech at the ceremony on Monday (May 12), King Charles spoke with emotion about the importance of the Standards and the values they represent.
“At such a time of global uncertainty, it is of crucial importance to preserve the attributes of excellence and achievement for which you are famous, and which are symbolised by these Standards,” he told the regiments.
“They are the embodied soul of the Regiment. Carry them with pride, that you may do your duty and serve your country well.”
