Prince Harry has been accused of being “bitter” following his eye-opening interview with the BBC in which he claimed he “would love a reconciliation” with the royal family.

King Charles‘ second son insisted at the start of the month that the alleged rift between the Sussexes and the duke’s relatives “could be resolved”.

It comes after Harry lost his recent court appeal over the downgrade of his publicly funded security. Harry called the security dispute the “sticking point” of the family rift.

Prince Harry called for family ‘reconciliation’ in BBC interview

As well as expressing his sadness that his children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – who Prince Harry shares with his wife Meghan Markle – may not be able to spend time in their “homeland”, the duke also detailed “some differences and disagreements with some members of my family”.

However, he maintained he had no regrets about stepping away from royal duties.

He said: “This current situation, which has been ongoing for five years with regard to human life and safety, is the sticking point.

“Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. But I would love reconciliation with my family.”

Prince Harry went on: “There’s no point in continuing to fight any more. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.”

Prince Harry ‘bitter’ in BBC interview

However, according to one royal commentator, Prince Harry may feel he’s missing out on moments with his family – and resent that. Therefore, this could have resulted in him hitting out in the interview.

Speaking on The Sun‘s Royal Exclusive show, pundit and royal author Robert Jobson said: “Maybe there was a degree of that bitterness in what he gave that interview with the BBC, a sense, again, he wasn’t there – and he knows he should be there.”

A lot of people blame Meghan for a lot, I don’t blame her at all.

Mr Jobson also suggested Prince Harry may have received an invite to participate in events such as the VE Day commemorations last week, if he hadn’t spoken out.

“Nobody said you shouldn’t go away and have a private life but if he hadn’t done the book and if he hadn’t done the Oprah interview, there’s no doubt in my view that he would have been invited back to do certain things,” Mr Jobson claimed.

Furthermore, Mr Jobson also urged Prince Harry to make his own decisions.

He said: “A lot of people blame Meghan for a lot, I don’t blame her at all. I think he’s got to be man enough to make his own decisions. And some of the decisions he’s made have been absolutely got wrong.”
