A moment between Kate Middleton and Queen Camilla at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding went viral at the time.

An expert previously claimed that Princess Kate and Camilla had to avoid making eye contact at the May 2018 nuptials.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day

Next week marks seven whole years since Harry and Meghan tied the knot inside St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, surrounded by Harry’s then-close family, as well as hundreds of others.

But it seems a royal biographer remembers the day very well, and once spilled some secrets about how several royals reacted to the proceedings.

Celebrity author Sean Smith has published books on many high-profile celebrities such as Tom Jones, Gary Barlow and JK Rowling.

In 2011, he had a Sunday Times Bestseller with his book, titled Kate, about the life of the now Princess of Wales.

Some years later he then turned his attention to Kate’s sister-in-law, writing Meghan Misunderstood, on the topic of Meghan Markle.

Smith described the project as “a pioneering book that sets the record straight on the most talked about, unfairly vilified and misrepresented woman in the world”.

The biography delves into the Duchess of Sussex’s childhood in America, her acting career and then of course coming to the relationship with a certain Prince Harry that would go on to change the course of her life.

Unsurprisingly, the couple’s big and highly publicised wedding day features prominently in the book.

Smith said of the occasion: “When I had watched Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018, the most memorable elements for me were her mother Doria’s quiet grace, the exquisite playing of cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the Kingdom Choir singing ‘Stand By Me’ acapella and the long, passionate sermon by the Most Rev Michael Curry on the power of love.”

On the topic of this memorable sermon by Curry, Smith said: “As he spoke, the reactions from the royal family that we were allowed to see were priceless.”

These reactions he goes on to boldly describe as “fascinated”, “pompous” and gobsmacked”, before even claiming that Princess Kate and the now Queen Camilla had to avoid looking at each other.

In his words: “Prince Charles read and re-read the order of service as if it was the latest fascinating issue of Country Life magazine; his wife Camilla and Kate Middleton were desperately trying not to make eye contact with each other.”

Camilla and Kate Middleton were desperately trying not to make eye contact with each other.

At the time, royal fans noticed the moment between Kate and Camilla. While Camilla’s face was mostly hidden by her hat, Kate was seen briefly glancing over in Camilla‘s direction before smiling slightly.

One royal fan said online: “That Kate Middleton side-eye,” alongside a clip.

Another wrote: “Camilla and Kate were giving side-eye smirks to each other throughout a lot of the ceremony.”
