Palace 'blocked' photos of Princess Diana at David Bowie concert to 'cover up James Hewitt affair'
Princess Diana and James Hewitt were reportedly involved for five years
A photographer has claimed that Kensington Palace covered up images of Princess Diana with David Bowie to hide her alleged affair with Army Major James Hewitt.
Denis O’Regan, a music photographer, claims he snapped Princess Diana with the famed popstar at Bowie’s June 1987 Glass Spider shows at Wembley Stadium in London.
O’Regan claims that these images were buried by the palace. They allegedly did so amid bubbling talk and rumours of Diana’s affair with James Hewitt.

Princess Diana was reportedly involved with Army Major Hewitt from around 1986 to 1991. At the time, she was still married to the then Prince Charles.
In a bid to disguise Diana’s extramarital romance, O’Regan claims Kensington Palace tried to cover up her meeting with David Bowie.
This was to prevent a buzz around Diana and the Starman singer. Likely because it could have exposed her outing with Hewitt.
“So the next day, my agent got a call from [the] palace, saying don’t use the pictures because word had gone out about James Hewitt. So that’s when it kind of erupted,” O’Regan told The Telegraph. “It was interesting, on a number of levels.”
The snaps see Princess Diana and David Bowie beaming beside each other.
So the more pictures that weren’t out there, the better.
The duo can be seen both wearing casual clothing and standing in front of a sign that says Dressing Room. Hewitt isn’t featured in the photos.
The photographer explains that the picture was taken after Princess Diana asked if Bowie would like a photo.

He went on to claim: “It was really [that] they didn’t want to fuel the fire. So the more pictures that weren’t out there, the better. Because someone would have said: ‘This is her at the show that she turned up to with James Hewitt,’ even though I didn’t get the multi-million dollar shot of the two of them together, because no one knew who he was.”
Princess Diana was photographed with David Bowie a few years later, at the Concert of Hope on World AIDS Day in December 1993.
Although Charles and Diana’s seemingly fairytale romance had captured the hearts of countless fans across the world, the reality was very different.
The couple reportedly began having affairs around 1986.
The then Prince of Wales allegedly rekindled his romance with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Now Queen Camilla and Charles had first dated in their twenties. Camilla was then wed to the father of her two children, Andrew Parker Bowles.
Meanwhile, Diana struck up a relationship with Hewitt after he offered to give her horseback riding lessons.
Their romance was said to have gone on for five years. Diana and Hewitt reportedly broke things off amid Diana and Charles’ attempts to save their marriage for the good of the crown.
