Meghan Markle's gushing three-word statement on Kate Middleton before bridesmaid dress row
Meghan once had nothing but nice words to say about her sister-in-lawMeghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s relationship was hit with a huge bridesmaid dress row back in 2018.
At the beginning of their friendship, Meghan and Kate seemed to get along. But things reportedly turned sour over dresses that were involved with Meghan’s wedding.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, causing a royal divide. But even before that it looks like cracks were formed.
A royal book has given an update over the infamous bridesmaid dress row.
What happened between Meghan and Kate?
In 2018, there were reports that the sister-in-laws disagreed over the tailoring of Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. At the time, reports claimed that Kate was left in tears over it.
But in Meghan and Harry’s bombshell Oprah interview in 2021, Meghan claimed that wasn’t true and she was actually the one crying.
However, Meghan remained tight-lipped on the exact details of their row. She did say that Kate apologised for it later, and even brought her flowers.
Meghan told Oprah: “I don’t think it’s fair to get into the details of that, because she apologised. What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do, but that happened to me.”
Now, seven years later, a new book Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants by Tom Quinn claims that both women were left “crying their eyes out”.
A former staff member told the author that Meghan and Kate had both said some regretful things in the heat of the moment. And that it wasn’t what it seemed to be in the public eye.
They said: “The truth is that during the discussions about the bridesmaid dress Meghan said a few things she regretted. And Kate said a few things she later regretted. But it was all in the heat of the moment.”
Meghan’s gushing comment on Kate in engagement interview
Before any of the bridesmaid dress drama went down between Meghan and Kate, the former actress spoke highly of her sister-in-law.
In 2017, Harry and Meghan sat down for an engagement interview with the BBC. At the time, there were no inklings of any animosity between the group.
Amazing. As has William as well. You know, it is fantastic support.
Harry had insisted that Prince William and Kate were “longing to meet” Meghan and their first introduction went very smoothly.
Meghan then cut in to give her own three-word description of Kate. She gushed: “She’s been wonderful.”
Harry agreed with Meghan, backing her up: “Amazing. As has William as well. You know, it is fantastic support.”
Royal family drama and ‘rift’
However, as the years went on things began to fray between the family. Eventually, in 2020, Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties and took their son, Archie, to America. It was while they were there that they welcomed their daughter, Lilibet.
The couple began doing interviews, documentaries and books, talking about their time in the royal family and how they were allegedly treated unfairly. this created a bigger divide between Harry and his family.
Recently, the 40-year-old prince gave an emotional interview to the BBC following his court appeal loss over his downgraded security in the UK.
He claimed that his father, King Charles, refuses to speak to him, and that he doesn’t “know how much longer he has left”. In the same interview, Harry admitted he would be open to a reconciliation with his family.
