Zara Tindall, despite being multi-talented and of the most popular royals, isn’t immune to a wardrobe malfunction – and she suffered one at Queen Elizabeth II‘s vigil in 2022.
The Olympian suffered an awkward blunder at her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s vigil in 2022… and even Prince William failed to come to the rescue!

Zara Tindall awkward mishap that even Prince William couldn’t rescue
As the late Queen lay-in-state at Westminster Hall in 2022, after her death aged 96, Zara Tindall was amongst the royal family members who stood vigil by the coffin.
Wearing a black ensemble of full mourning, Zara stepped gracefully up the stone steps, a sombre display of respect for her grandmother.

Unfortunately, it was here that Zara’s awkward mishap occurred.
“Did you see my shoe fell off? The heels I was wearing for the vigil?” she asked guests at a charity dinner this week.
“We were walking out, up the steps and I had tights on and my shoes were a little bit big. We were all walking up the steps and my shoe came off. William was in front of me and my brother was beside me.”

Faced with a mortifying dilemma, Zara didn’t know what to do next. She even considered roping in Prince Harry to grab her shoe.
“I went up the next step and I was like ‘Shall I pick it up…or shall I leave Harry to pick it up?’ So yeah, basically, I picked it up quick and I walked in. William came around the corner and said ‘What are you doing?’ I was like ‘I have lost my shoe!'”
The daughter or Princess Anne shared several revelations at her recent attendance to a £210-a-head Sporting Club dinner in London.

Discussing King Charles’ coronation in May 2023, she admitted: “I did not see it actually, where I was sat. He was around the corner. I could not see.”
Zara also joked about receiving her MBE back in 2007. She admitted she couldn’t remember who had actually given her it.
“Was it Granny? I think it was. I can’t remember,” Zara quipped.
She then exclaimed: “Please don’t tell anyone I just said that… I will kill you!”
Zara is famously married to rugby star Mike Tindall.
At the same Sporting Club dinner, the daughter of Princess Anne admitted she once had palace police rouse Mike from a slumber whilst he was hungover.
She has previously given an insight into her personal life, saying that her children (Mia, Lena and Lucas) have inherited some of her traits.
As per the Mirror: “There is never a dull moment,” she said. “Obviously my personality is coming out in the children and there are some (characteristics) that you love and some that you don’t like.”
