King Charles shares cancer update during Bradford visit amid treatment
The monarch addressed his health during conversation with florist in BradfordKing Charles gave an unexpected cancer update yesterday (Thursday May 15) as he discussed his health in Bradford.
The king, 76, was in Yorkshire to meet local business owners and celebrate the city’s status as the UK City of Culture.
He continues to fulfil royal engagements, including garden parties at Buckingham Palace, as he carries on with treatment for his condition.
But when speaking with someone who has survived cancer during his Bradford visit, it seems King Charles may have revealed positive expectations for how he is progressing.

King Charles cancer update
According to reports, King Charles believes he is on the “better side” of his battle with cancer.
He is said to have had a conversation with local florist Safeena Khan, who has also endured cancer.
She presented him with a bouquet inspired by his gardens at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
And she later told reports she and the King each spoke about what they have gone through with their health.
Safeena reportedly told PA Media: “He asked me how I was, and I asked him how he was. There were some pleasantries towards the end, but it was a lovely conversation.”

Additionally, King Charles is said to have given Safeena the “thumbs up” when asked about his health. He is said to have told her: “I’d like to think I’m on the better side [of my cancer journey]”.
It is not something easy to discuss.
She went on: “It is not something easy to discuss. Two years on [from my own cancer journey], I still find it difficult. I think you have to accept that you’re going through it first, and then the fight begins. I think the key is that you don’t give up on yourself. The biggest form of disrespect to yourself is giving up.”
Meanwhile, earlier this week during a garden party at Buckingham Palace, King Charles is said to have recommended diet as being key to helping while going through cancer.

What kind of cancer does King Charles have?
King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in February 2024.
Under doctors’ orders, he took a brief break from public duties at the time while receiving regular treatments.
In his statement, it was noted the cancer was detected during a recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement. However, it has been suggested the king’s cancer is not related to his prostate.
Instead, the type of cancer King Charles has has been kept private.
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer,” the palace’s statement concluded.
