Kate Middleton 'proud' of son Prince Louis as he 'keeps secret' from sister Charlotte
It happened last December
Kate Middleton was reportedly left “extremely proud” of her youngest son, Prince Louis, after he managed to keep a very special surprise a secret from his big sister, Princess Charlotte.
During a recent interview, royal relative and singer-songwriter Ella Windsor revealed an endearing behind-the-scenes moment from last year’s Together at Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey, which Kate had organised.
The heartwarming secret? A surprise ballet performance planned especially for Charlotte, and Prince Louis didn’t breathe a word of it in advance, apparently.

Kate Middleton ‘proud’ of Prince Louis for ‘keeping secret’
HELLO! reports that the princess reportedly told Prince Louis that there would be a special ballet performance for Charlotte. It’s said Kate was “extremely proud” that he managed to keep it quiet until the night of the concert.
The royal carol concert aimed to spotlight some of the UK’s most inspiring charities and individuals.
This particular evening featured a range of musical guests, including school bands supported by the charity Restore the Music, for which Ella recently became a patron.
According to Ella, the carefully planned ballet was just one of many personal touches Kate added to the star-studded event.
While those around the princess were involved in various musical arrangements, the ballet was a tightly held secret.
“It was a very special idea of hers to include ballet dancers at the concert,” Ella gushed to HELLO!. “I didn’t know that there would be children as well as adult dancers, all brightly and beautifully dressed as they danced through the abbey. It was a wonderful gathering of creative people, and it was extremely moving. I loved it, and I was really touched to be asked. It was very kind of her.”
The Together at Christmas carol service is now an annual tradition hosted by the Princess of Wales.
Ella admitted that it was an honour to be involved. “It was such an honour to be involved, and very thoughtful and kind-hearted of the Princess to include me. I was very touched,” she shared. “She was so lovely to work with. Always gracious, very creative and with so much vision and passion for the many charities and causes she supports. I was happy to have a little part in it.”

What does Kate call Prince Louis?
It’s no secret that the Princess of Wales has an affectionate and down-to-earth relationship with her children.
For Prince Louis, Kate has repeatedly been heard calling him “Lou-bugs” or “Lou Bug”.
In a sweet home video released last year, she could be heard encouraging her youngest, saying: “Lou-bugs, you lead the way.”
It was a very special idea of hers to include ballet dancers at the concert.
And during a May 2023 visit to the 3rd Upton Scout Group in Slough, royal fans once again caught Kate using the nickname while helping Louis toast marshmallows.
“Pop that in the fire, Lou Bug,” she said warmly, handing him a stick.
Kate’s nicknames for her other children are equally endearing.
Princess Charlotte is often called “Lottie” or “Poppet”. Meanwhile, Prince George has previously been referred to as “Little Grape”, a sweet nod to his early childhood years.
