Princess Eugenie's subtle 'connection' to Princess Diana with outfit at palace garden party
Eugenie has been showing up for the monarchy
Princess Eugenie looked stunning this week when she stepped out boasting a sweet nod to the late Princess Diana.
The princess and granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II attended the Buckingham Palace garden party in London earlier this week, where she rocked a polka dot gown.
It was here that she sported a heartfelt reminder of the late Princess of Wales…

Princess Eugenie’s ‘nod’ to Princess Diana
Princess Eugenie‘s style was a poignant reminder of Prince William and Prince Harry’s mother, who tragically died in 1997.
The princess wore a set of diamond and sapphire earrings, reminiscent of luxurious pieces from Diana’s own collection.
Eugenie supported her cousin William and his wife Kate by attending the final royal garden party of the season – Princess Kate’s first garden party since 2023.
It was here she wore the reported £20,000 18-carat Garrard earrings.
The floral design set with white gold, vivid sapphires and sparkling diamonds is part of the London-based jeweller’s Lotus Flower collection.
Garrard has a firm link with the royals and was a favourite of Princess Diana, especially as they made her gorgeous engagement ring – which now belongs to Princess Kate.
The jeweller also redesigned her floral garland wedding tiara, which was a family heirloom, for her nuptials to Charles in the 80s.
Eugenie’s link to Queen Victoria
In 1843, Queen Victoria (Queen Elizabeth II’s great-great grandmother) appointed Garrard as the royal family’s first official crown jeweller.
They held this position until 2007. They even crafted iconic pieces from the family’s collection like the imperial state crown, which King Charles wore for his 2023 coronation.
Eugenie’s Lotus flower earrings are not only reflective of Diana’s style, often featuring blues and elegant diamonds, they hold another symbolic meaning.

Eugenie’s style flaunts poignant message
The Lotus flower symbolises purity and resilience as well as both spiritual and emotional growth. It is often associated with rising above adversity.
A poignant and fitting statement considering Princess Kate’s recent journey overcoming cancer.
Not only that, but Eugenie’s uncle, King Charles, suffered his own cancer diagnosis just last Spring and has continued to defy odds by upholding his duties as king whilst navigating his treatment.
Elsewhere, Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, endured a double cancer diagnosis in recent years.
Although Eugenie’s earrings aren’t a part of the Crown’s collection, they still flaunt her dedication to The Firm.
Princess Kate’s garden party
Even as a non-working royal, Eugenie appears to be showing up for her family more often lately.
According to Hello, Kate and William welcomed their relatives to help them at the very special garden party.
Eugenie showed up in a patterned Rixo dress complimented with a navy blue hat.
Other royal guests like Zara Tindall, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh also attended the shindig.
