Prince Harry's heartbreaking confession about single life before meeting Meghan Markle
His love life has always made the headlinesPrince Harry has been happily married to Meghan Markle for seven years, but when he was still a single man, the Duke of Sussex once opened up about a sad “wish” he and his brother Prince William shared.
Prince Harry, 40, has seen his love life – and rumours about his romances – make the headlines for over two decades.
His girlfriends, as well as other women he has been linked with in the press, have also found themselves coming in for intense scrutiny.
But back in 2012, Prince Harry made a surprising confession about how life as a royal affects his relationships.

Prince Harry and single life before Meghan Markle
In the weeks following the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Prince Harry embarked on 10-day tour to the Caribbean and Brazil.
During his trip he was asked about whether royal life lived up to fairytale expectations.
Surprisingly, the then monarch’s grandson indicated his position was not always helpful when it came to wooing. Prince Harry hinted any potential partner had to be on board with the pressures of fulfilling royal duties, as well as a love match.
When asked whether the life of royalty lives “up to the fairytale”, Harry reflected at the time to US broadcaster CBS News: “No, not at all. As any girl would ever tell you. It’s sort of, ‘Oh my God, he’s a prince.’
“But no. The job that it entails. I mean look at me, I’m 27 years old, and not so much searching for someone to fulfil the role, but obviously, you know, finding someone that would be willing to take it on.”

Prince Harry on ‘wish’ also held by Prince William
Prince Harry also referred to his brother Prince William as he considered how their circumstances could be very different without their royal status. However, he recognised their ability to drive charitable achievements.
Prince Harry went on: “There’s a lot of times that both myself and my brother wish, obviously, that we were just completely normal.

“We’ve been born into this position. Therefore we’ll do what we need to do to people and to kids that need it. It really is that simple for us.”

Who has Prince Harry dated?
Prince Harry’s most high-profile romances have included relationships with Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas.
He and Chelsy were reportedly on-and-off between 2004 to 2010. They first got together during his gap year in Cape Town. She also attended William’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011. But it’s believed that she and Harry weren’t together.

Meanwhile, actress Cressida Bonas was said to be Prince Harry’s girlfriend between 2012 and 2014. It is believed they were introduced by his cousin Princess Eugenie.
Others linked to Prince Harry before he started seeing Meghan include X Factor host Caroline Flack (in 2009), and model Florence Brudenell (2011).
