Prince William’s cheeky quip to Princess Kate in Scotland

On Thursday, the Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out on their first occasion of their trip in Scotstoun in Glasgow.

They attended the ship naming ceremony of the HMS Glasgow at BAE Systems’ shipyard.

It was here that Kate looked stunning sporting a navy and white ensemble. But it wasn’t just Kate’s outfit that stole the show – it was William’s mischievous antics.

The loved-up couple looked very relaxed as they got stuck in with a playful pipe building challenge.

It seems William’s attempts weren’t up to scratch as the Princess of Wales was just about to be crowned winner of the challenge, moments before her pipe structure collapsed!

Prince William, being an utter gentleman, appeared to subtly allow his wife to claim the victory by making a fitting comment.

Royal fans loved the playful moment between the couple, with one person gushing on X: “I just adore their love- you can see it and hear it.”

Another wrote: “Love this, they have some much banter and fun between them.”

Lip reading expert Nicola Hickling has decoded William’s meaning when he gave his wife a knowing smile during the challenge.

Prince William’s ‘knowing’ smile decoded

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Nicola Hickling states how William smiled and warned those around: “You don’t want to put any pressure on mine. It’ll just go shhh,” when discussing his pipe structure.

Thus implying, that Kate’s efforts were more worthy of the win.

When Kate’s structure dramatically fell to pieces William raised his fingers in a circle and declares: “Perfectly timed!”

It seemed pretty clear that William had let Kate win, explaining his knowing smile.

Kate and William attended the naming ceremony of the HMS Glasgow as Kate is the sponsor of the ship.

She even boasted the role of smashing a bottle of whisky against its hull. Of course, ever-stylish Kate even made sure her outfit matched the occasion.

Princess Kate stuns on Scotland trip

Kate wore a new ensemble, a long-sleeved navy dress by Suzannah London with a seemingly nautical theme.

She wore a matching hat by Philip Treacy, and a navy midnight hang clutch bag. The princess sported practical nude, suede heels to compliment the look.

Always one with an eye for detail, Princess Kate echoed Princess Diana by wearing Cabochon sapphire drop earrings – previously owned by her mother-in-law.

Unsurprisingly, royal fans have been in awe of Kate’s appearance during her time in Scotland.

One royal fan wrote on X: “HRH, The Princess of Wales. The epitome of grace and elegance! Flawless!”

Another gushed: “It’s like a glamorous movie. The Princess of Wales is style perfection.”
