Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have featured in a number of TV shows and documentaries, but a South Park episode they had no input with had a dramatic impact on their perception within the public eye.

Harry and Meghan faced ridicule on South Park in 2023, and reports at the time claimed it caused ‘upset’ between the couple.

Sources at the time claimed the Sussexes representatives watched the series to see what ‘attacks’ were made against the royal couple.

What episode of South Park is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in?

On February 15, 2023, the couple appeared to be referenced in South Park, being featured in the 22-minute episode 2 of season 26 of the hit comedy show, called, The Worldwide Privacy Tour.

The episode of the animated sitcom poked fun at Meghan and Harry as they moved to the fictional town. It parodied the royal couple by centering around a fictional Prince of Canada and his wife who travelled to the Colorado suburb.

While the Sussexes are mentioned by name, and at the disclaimer at the beginning of the episode states all characters are fictional, there are striking resemblances to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in South Park.

The episode sees cartoon characters of the couple appearing on ‘Good Morning Canada’ and holding up signs while chanting: “We want privacy, we want privacy!”

The couple strive for a normal life without prying eyes but they demand it while on a global tour.

Harry and Meghan need for ‘privacy’ mocked on South Park

The characters sit on the US morning show as the character resembling Meghan says in an exaggerated accent: “It’s awesome to be here, it’s great.”

During the episode, Harry’s memoir Spare becomes ridiculed as the sitcom changes the title of the book to “Waaagh”.

I’m sure you agree darling, we can be the people we talked about being.

As Harry’s character begins talking, Meghan’s character interrupts and says: “It’s totally like you should write a book because your family is stupid and then so are like journalists.”

In another part of the episode, the characters embark on a “we want privacy” tour before moving to South Park.

As they arrive, Meghan’s character says: “If we moved here, people would think we’re really serious about wanting to be normal.”

In another moment, the character of Harry gives a speech.

He says: “I’m sure you agree darling, we can be the people we talked about being.

“What matters is what we have on the inside.”

But the character based on the Duchess of Sussex refuses to answer. His character then lifts Meghan’s mouth, looks inside and shouts: “Hello?” which echoes.

Although we don’t know exact figures, the original episode is estimated to have had around three to four million viewers for that season.

Her lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan has already been renewed for a new season. It follows the royal as she gives tips and advice on entertaining, cooking and flower arranging at home.

One user wrote: “@SouthPark we need you, we need you now to do another laughable sketch on this joke of a couple!”

Another added on social media: “There is so much comedy gold being generated from Meghan Markle’s ridiculous ‘teasers’ for her show, and these stupid interviews. I have to think @SouthPark is where the real money is going to be made.”
