Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a big change on their daughter Princess Lilibet Diana’s birth certificate when she was born.

Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021. This week she turns four. The little girl was born in California after Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved from the UK to the US.

But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a change to Lilibet‘s birth certificate which was different to their son Prince Archie’s.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s names listed on Princess Lilibet Diana’s birth certificate

In 2021, weeks after Lilibet’s birth, PEOPLE reported on her birth certificate. It was revealed that Lilibet was born on June 4 at 11:30am in the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The hospital is close to Harry and Meghan’s Montecito home.

On the certificate, Prince Harry‘s first name was listed as “The Duke of Sussex” with “His Royal Highness” as his last name.

However, unlike on Archie’s certificate, Meghan didn’t use her royal titles. Instead, her full name was listed as Rachel Meghan Markle.

This is different to their names listed on Prince Archie’s birth certificate. Archie was born in May 2019, when Harry and Meghan were still working royals.

Prince Archie’s birth certificate

Harry’s name was listed on the certificate as “His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex”.

Meanwhile, Meghan’s was “Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex”.

But it’s claimed that Meghan had made a change to her name on Archie’s certificate a month after his birth.

Meghan opted to remove her first names on Prince Archie’s birth certificate, almost two weeks after he was registered.

According to The Sun, instead of saying “Rachel Meghan”, Archie’s birth certificate read: “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex,” after the change.

At the time, Harry and Meghan’s jobs were listed as Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom on Archie’s certificate. Their jobs weren’t listed on Lilibet’s document though.

Can Harry and Meghan use their HRH titles?

After Prince Harry and Meghan decided to step back from royal duties in early 2020, Buckingham Palace explained that they would no longer use their HRH titles publicly. However, they still have them.

A statement from the palace explained: “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family.”

However, they were allowed to continue using their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.

The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family.

Recently, it was revealed that Meghan had used her HRH in a gift box and card to a friend in private. It sparked new calls for Harry and Meghan to lose their titles since they’re no longer working royals.

One report even claimed that Harry’s brother Prince William could strip the couple of their HRH titles when he becomes king. However, some experts have shut this down and insisted he wouldn’t bother.
