Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was quick to mock King Charles after he delivered a speech said to be in support for Canada following threats from President Donald Trump.

The 76-year-old, who recently underwent a trip to Canada with Queen Camilla, opened the Canadian Parliament on May 27.

It was the first time during his reign, following in the footsteps of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II who last did this in 1977.

At the time, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the monarch making the speech was perfect timing following the recent comments and trade wars between Canada and the United States.

It also comes after the former Apprentice Star said he wanted to make the independent country the 51st state of America.

The royal was applauded to offering support to the country, who is part of the Commonwealth. Commentators said the united front sent a clear message to Trump.

During the speech, the king said: “Today, Canada faces another critical moment. Democracy, pluralism, the rule of law, self-determination and freedom are values which Canadians hold dear, and ones which the government is determined to protect.”

The throne speech, written by the government, had the royal say: “The system of open global trade that, while not perfect, has helped to deliver prosperity for Canadians for decades, is changing. Canada’s relationships with partners are also changing.”

And another line, where he uttered: “As the anthem reminds us: The true north is indeed strong and free.”

However, Jimmy Kimmel mocked King Charles and suggested that it wasn’t a strong retaliation to the claims spoken by Donald Trump.

During his weekend show, he mocked the king’s trip overseas.

He said: “Trump isn’t the only elder statesman with a friend in need, King Charles was in Canada today to show his support for the commonwealth during this difficult time. The king gave an uncharacteristically fiery speech this morning in front of the Canadian Parliament.”

The show then aired footage from the parliament hearing, where we watch the monarch struggle to turn the pages of his written speech.

Jimmy Kimmel added another remark aimed at King Charles: “Won’t someone please come lick the royal thumb?

“Next I want him try to open a Capri Sun. So then once he was able to pry the manilla envelope pages apart the king spoke not only with power, but also with grace.”

They then played a clip from his speech, where the royal said each time he visits the country, it ‘seeps’ into his bloodstream and into his heart.

Kimmel retorted: “Gross.”
