Comedian ‘burnt’ Princess Anne with tea

Speaking on the Where There’s a Will There’s a Wake with host Mel Giedroyc, Daniel opened up about the incident. It reportedly occurred while he was working at a fancy event.

“I burned Princess Anne once,” he confessed during the chat.

She leapt into the air, screamed, turned around.

The 31-year-old explained that he was “carrying a pot of hot tea at some very fancy event” when he worked as a waiter. However, his own clumsiness led to the painful incident.

According to the comedian, he spun “too quickly” and accidentally poured “truly, scaldingly boiling hot tea all down the back of Princess Anne’s bare legs”.

“She leapt into the air, screamed, turned around,” he then said, revealing that the Princess Royal let out a “blood-curdling scream”.

He added that the royal may have sworn, too.

Daniel then continued, explaining that he had profusely apologised to the royal.

Luckily, Daniel had a saviour, who, mistakenly, believed he had been the cause of the accident.

“Thankfully, a man thought he had knocked me – he hadn’t – but he took the blame,” Daniel said.

The guest also tried to minimise the incident by explaining: “It’s just water.”

“Yes, well, it was rather warm,” the Princess Royal reportedly replied.

Meanwhile, Princess Anne hosted 100 charities at Buckingham Palace last week. The event came about as per her request to have as many good causes present for a special gathering ahead of her 75th birthday in August.

During the event, the Princess Royal thanked the charities for coming along.

“You very kindly asked me to become a patron of your organisations. So it’s an honour for me to have all of you here,” she said.

She also gave thanks to her brother Charles for giving the event the opportunity to happen.

“I would just like to make the point that we’re very fortunate that His Majesty has allowed us to use Buckingham Palace for this event… And I need to say that!” she said.

Princess Anne concluded her speech by saying: “The responsibility and respect that you give to your own organisations, the people who work for you and your own beneficiaries, is perhaps the key to what makes you so important. Respect and responsibility. Thank you very much for doing what you do.”
