The truth about that Kevin Hart and Meghan Markle rumour from the BET Awards
The Sussexes were roasted at the Golden Globes in 2024...Kevin Hart held nothing back when it came to his opening monologue at the BET Awards over the weekend – but after reports went viral online, what did he say – if anything – about Meghan Markle?
The rumours claimed he roasted the royal, to the point that forced Prince Harry to storm out. However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t attend the ceremony, and Kevin Hart made no mention to them in his monologue.
It seems the Sussexes have been subject to another baseless rumour that’s spreading online. Here’s what really happened.

What did Kevin Hart say about Meghan Markle?
Comedian Kevin Hart didn’t roast Meghan Markle or Prince Harry at the BET Awards this year, but he did take aim at other high profile celebrities. He made subtle digs at Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and cracked a joke at rapper Kanye West
The roasts were kept light as he opened the 2025 awards show.
The Kanye gag began when he pretended he received a text and looked at his phone.
Kevin joked: “Aw [bleep], it’s Kanye. Yeah. He says he’s out front, he’s waiting for somebody to invite him in. Hey! Don’t do it! We all saw that movie Sinners, don’t let his [bleep] in here so he can bite somebody!”
When it came to Sean Combs, the star didn’t mention the musician by name, but alluded to him multiple times throughout his speech.
He told the audience not to goto any afterparties because that’s where “[bleep] gets slippery”.
Kevin then addresses a viral video of Cardi B and her boyfriend who were captured partying on a yacht during Memorial Day weekend.

Duchess of Sussex was roasted at the Golden Globes
But the couple were roasted at the Golden Globes in 2024 by host Jo Koy.
The cheeky jibe was aimed at the Sussexes during the comedian’s opening monologue.
While speaking to the audience, full of A-list celebrities, he praised Imelda Staunton on her portrayal of the late Queen in the final season of the Netflix show The Crown.
He said: “How great was Imelda Staunton in The Crown, wasn’t she amazing? Her portrayal of the Queen was so good Prince Harry called her and asked her for money.”
He continued: “Like I said, I didn’t write all of these! That one wasn’t mine!
“Prince Harry and Meghan will still be paid millions of dollars for doing absolutely nothing – and that’s just by Netflix!”
Koy was referring to their hit docu-series with the streaming giant, Harry & Meghan, which released in December 2023.
