Prince Harry has been urged to make an “apology” to his family amid claims he’s “full of regrets” over the alleged rift.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, has become more estranged from his family over the years. In May, Harry expressed his desire to have a reconciliation with his father King Charles, and the rest of his family.

Since stepping back from royal life in 2020, Harry has detailed his life within the monarchy and made some allegations about his father and older brother, Prince William. These public comments have seemingly played a part in Harry’s now fractured relationship with his family.

What have Harry and Meghan done since stepping back from royal life?

In 2021, Harry and wife, Meghan Markle, did a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. In it, they detailed their negative experience of royal life. Then, in 2022, they released a six-part Netflix series about their life both within the royal family and once they had stepped away.

The following year, Harry released his memoir Spare. Again, he included some allegations about his family. One was that William physically attacked him during a disagreement in 2019.

Now, could one simple gesture fix the strains between Harry and his family?

Prince Harry urged to ‘apologise’ amid royal family ‘rift’

Speaking on The Sun‘s Royal Exclusive show, royal commentator and Queen Elizabeth II’s former press spokesman Dickie Arbiter said an apology could help mend relations.

He said: “There’s got to be a lot to happen between now and then. You can’t just brush everything under the carpet. The Oprah interview.

“The six hours of Netflix slagging off the royal family. The book Spare. You can’t just sweep that under the carpet.”

He added: “There’s got to be an apology.”

Dickie went on to claim that William, 43, and Charles feel differently about the situation with Harry. He claimed the Prince of Wales “doesn’t want to have anything to do with” Harry. Meanwhile, King Charles likely feels “very hurt by what his son has done”.

He also claimed that the royals “can’t trust” Harry.

Harry ‘full of regrets’ over relationship with his family

There’s no doubt that his family situation is emotional for Harry. He may even feel some regret over how things have played out.

Royal expert and author Duncan Larcombe described the Duke of Sussex as a “sensitive soul”.

He told OK!: “Harry is a sensitive soul and always wore his heart on his sleeve, so whether he’d admit it publicly or not, I’m sure he’s full of regrets and wishes he’d done things differently.

“With Trooping the Colour and Father’s Day falling on the same weekend, it was bound to make him look back at the happy relationships he once had with his brother and dad, and I’m sure he’d love to be able to rebuild those.”
