Princess Charlotte leaves author Dr Tadzio Jodlowski ‘over the moon’ after sending him letter
Dr Tadzio Jodlowski has written a unique children's book about protecting green belt land
Princess Charlotte has left author Dr Tadzio Jodlowski over the moon after sending him a letter about his new book.
Jodlowski’s book, Jonni Greenbelt and the Magic of Fields, follows the story of a child who loves the countryside.
But when the child learns that his parents’ green field is about to be sold, he tries his best to take action. And it seems, nature-loving Princess Charlotte, 10, very much enjoyed the storyline.

Princess Charlotte gifted a very special book from a nature-loving author
Shropshire author Jodlowski’s book follows the main character Jonni. Along the way, Jonni meets several celebrities and friends who support him and his sister as they try to protect his parents’ field.
Jodlowski thought of the story whilst enjoying Shropshire’s countryside.
It was here that he noticed two children having a great time outside. In that moment, he realised what a shame it would be for green spaces like this to be developed on.
Jonni Greenbelt and the Magic of Fields is Jodlowski’s fourth book in total.
Undoubtedly, this book is a very special one indeed, as it has been recognised by the royals.
Semi-retired lecturer and author Jodlowski has said of his story, according to the Shropshire Star: “I am extremely proud of the book. It has several themes to it. One of them being green belts and encouraging those, but also encourages children not to worry too much, to think of problems like clouds that come and go, but then there is a theme of not worrying and enjoying nature.”
Discussing the inspiration behind the book, he explained: “I heard these two kids across the field and they were playing, having a great time, and so happy. I thought it would be such a shame if the field wasn’t there anymore and if it was developed on.”

Author Dr Tadzio Jodlowski bases children’s book character on the Princess of Wales
Jodlowski also explained that he based Jonni Greenbelt’s sister, Catherine, on the Princess of Wales. He was inspired by Kate due to her love of the outdoors and her kind nature.
Because of this, the author sent a copy of the book to Princess Charlotte for her birthday. Since then, he has received a letter of thanks from Kensington Palace.
“I was over the moon that they read the book and understood it. My idea was, because Princess Kate had inspired the character in the book with someone who is always trying to do the right thing, always dignified, a good person, that when I heard it was Charlotte’s birthday I thought it would be lovely to send a polite letter saying it was a book with a character based on her Mum. I was delighted to receive a response and letter back.”
