Moment Kate Middleton was left 'mortified' at Wimbledon over her dad Michael's remark
"I was mortified!"It’s no secret that Kate Middleton is a big fan of tennis and will most likely be keeping tabs on Wimbledon 2025. After all, she is a royal patron of the All England Club.
Kate is also good friends with professional tennis player Roger Federer. Wimbledon 2025 coverage begins on Monday, June 30.
Both of the Princess of Wales’ parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, are big fans of the sport too. Princess Kate’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton, has also previously been seen attending Wimbledon games with her.

Kate Middleton left ‘mortified’ over her father at Wimbledon
Kate previously opened up about a moment when her father, Michael, left her feeling “mortified” at Wimbledon.
During a 2017 BBC documentary, Sue Barker: Our Wimbledon, Kate detailed a mix-up that left her feeling “mortified”.
My dad said very coolly: ‘Hi Pete’. I was mortified!
She revealed that her dad attempted to remain cool and calm when meeting former tennis player Tim Henman.
“My father is not going to appreciate this, but we were walking past Tim Henman and we had just seen [Pete] Sampras play,” she said.
Kate continued: “My dad said very coolly: ‘Hi Pete.’ I was mortified!”

Reason Kate couldn’t attend Wimbledon
Meanwhile, in the same documentary, Kate revealed that there was one year she couldn’t attend.
In July 2013, the Princess of Wales was pregnant with her first son, Prince George. He was born on July 22 that year.
She revealed in the documentary: “I was very heavily pregnant with George, so I wasn’t able to turn up. I wrote to [Andy Murray] afterwards saying sorry for not being there, but huge congratulations.”
Kate is no stranger to an incredible fashion moment at Wimbledon and appeared to have all eyes on her during her appearance in July 2023.

She was joined by Laura Robson to watch Katie Boulter play against Daria Saville at the time.
As reported by the Daily Mail, she upped her fashion game in a pleated white skirt and a mint-coloured Balmain blazer worth £1,950 ($2.6k).
Meanwhile, last year, the Princess of Wales was met with a standing ovation at Wimbledon as she attended with daughter Princess Charlotte. Her attendance came just months after she publicly announced her cancer diagnosis.
She shared she had cancer in a March 2024 video, and underwent treatment for most of last year. In January 2025, Kate announced she was in remission with her cancer and has slowly returned to duties.
We hope to see Kate attend Wimbledon this year!
