The royal family has tended to keep a distance from the Invictus Games since Harry and Meghan’s royal exit in 2020.
Harry launched the games in 2014. According to recent reports, Harry has invited his family to the 2027 Invictus Games. It’ll take place in Birmingham, in the UK. The move has been described as a potential “olive branch” amid Harry’s strained relationship with his relatives.

Princess Eugenie talks scoliosis scars
During a recent chat with the Scoliosis Support & Research charity, Princess Eugenie opened up about her experience with the health condition.
Eugenie underwent surgery for scoliosis when she was 12 years old.
The surgery left the princess with a scar down her back, something she was initially self-conscious of. However, in an interview with The Telegraph recently, she opened up about how she’d come to accept her scar.
“All of a sudden, it was a badge of honour – a cool thing I had. It trained my brain that it’s OK, scars are cool,” she said.
Now, in her chat with the charity, she opened up about proudly showing off her scar by wearing an open-backed wedding dress on her big day.
“I just think scars tell a story about your life,” she said.

Eugenie then emphasised the importance of taking pride in scars, whether they’re from operations or other traumatic life events.
“All these people overcome all these absolute atrocities and wear their scars with pride, as a badge of honour,” she said.
To demonstrate her point, she explored the impact of Paralympians in showing their pride on the “world stage”.
She also cited the Invictus Games as a venue for athletes to show their pride in their injuries and scars.

Since Harry stepped down as a working royal in 2020, the royal family has tended to avoid the Invictus Games.
This was particularly evident last year, when Harry hosted a ceremony in London celebrating 10 years of the games. No member of the royal family was in attendance.
Therefore, Eugenie’s recent comments have some special significance.
Continuing her point, Eugenie said: “I personally think they (scars) are all so beautiful… It’s like a story of your life. The scar reminds me of something enormous I have overcome.”

Eugenie talks Sarah Ferguson’s impact on scar acceptance
Eugenie has previously cited her mum, Sarah Ferguson, as helping her come to accept her scar.
“My mum caught my scoliosis early, and I was lucky enough to get the help I needed at 12 years old. I thank her so much for that and also thank her for the confidence to be proud of my scar,” she once said on Instagram.
“She removed all the stigma around having scoliosis for me by confidently showing people what I’d been through and it took all the fear and anxiety out of being different at such a young age. I am forever grateful and wish everyone to be proud of their scars.”
