The hilarious moment happened on May 7, 2023, just before the Coronation Concert to celebrate King Charles‘ crowning.
Prince William’s sweet interaction with fan
Following King Charles’ coronation in 2023, William was seen interacting with a young fan.
Ahead of the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle – which William gave a speech at – a young boy called to the prince from by the barriers.
“Do you know when Prince William is going to come?” he asked.
William showed off his quick wit with his funny response. “I don’t know! I don’t know where he is. Have you seen him yet? Do you know where he is?” he replied.
The boy speculated that William was further down, mingling with the crowd.
“Did he go that way? He will be here any moment soon,” William then responded.

‘He is Prince William’
Dropping the pretence, the Prince of Wales then asked the young boy if he knew who he was speaking to.
“The Government?” the boy asked, sending William into fits of laughter.
Admitting he might look like “the Government”, William then gently corrected the child, revealing that he was, in fact, Prince William.
After shaking his hand, he boy, in disbelief, exclaimed to his mother: “Oh… He is Prince William, mummy.”
This drew a chuckle from the crowd. “So nice to meet you,” William said as he ruffled the boy’s hair and moved on.
Royal fans gush over sweet moment
The adorable moment was filmed, and was recently re-shared on Instagram.
“The lovely moment between Prince William and a little boy who asks him if he knows if Prince William is going to come to greet the crowds because he is waiting for him,” the caption of the post reads.
“William’s answer is the best. DON’T MISS the boy’s reaction when he finds out that he has been talking to William all the time!” it then continued.

“Darling! And I love how he didn’t say, “Prince William.” Just “William.” He’s the nicest and seems so down to earth,” one royal fan wrote.
