Son of Queen Camilla Tom Parker-Bowles discusses his trust fund
The 5o-year-old writer and critic discussed with host of White Wine Question Time Katie Thornton, the significant impact working has had on his life.
He admitted that without experiences through his career, he would have likely taken a lot of things for granted.
“Sadly, no trust fund,” he quipped before going on to acknowledge that this was probably a good thing.
“You know, actually, it’s a good thing not having a trust fund. I’d probably be dead if I’d had one.”
He added: “Obviously, I had to work like everyone. You know, you have to work. It’s important.
“So, I stumbled somewhat into food writing, 25 years ago when the landscape was rather different.”
Before finding his path as a food writer, Tom had various job, including a brief stint in Public Relations.
He candidly recalled: “I worked for a wonderful film PR company called DDA and they used to run Cannes and you’d be looking after talent.

Tom’s early career
“So you’d be taking Alicia Silverstone round London in the ’90s or Anna Friel or whatever. So it wasn’t exactly the most arduous task for a straight man. It wasn’t the most arduous of jobs, but I was always late.”
Tom continued: “I’m still friends with my bosses, Stacey and Dennis, and they’re lovely people. But eventually, enough was enough. I got sacked… So anyway, I was sitting around thinking, you know, what the hell am I going to do?”
The eldest son of Queen Camilla later discovered his love for food writing and is now a regular contributor to the Mail on Sunday and Country Life.
Tom Parker-Bowles recently shared another glimpse into his life as a distant relation to the royals.
In his new book, Cooking & the Crown, which reportedly traces the history of royal culinary cuisine through the tastes and preferences of Britain’s king and queens, Tom shares various anecdotes about the rulers.
Although, he did try to keep a “degree of separation,” considering his own mother is now queen.

Tom Parker-Bowles awkward blunder when meeting the queen
Speaking to The Independent, Tom explained he only met Queen Elizabeth, King Charles’ late mother, twice – so didn’t feel comfortable saying too much about the monarch.
However, he did divulge that he made a pretty awkward gaffe when he was first introduced to her.
He revealed: “I was so scared that I curtsied rather than bowed.”
Usually, when greeting the monarch or a member of the royal family, men are traditionally expected to bow their heads while women do a small curtsy.
