Prince Harry ridiculed as wild puppet show Spitting Image returns

The Duke of Sussex was the punchline again...

Prince Harry was savagely mocked in the latest teaser episode of Spitting Image’s new series, the iconic puppet comedy show.

The Duke of Sussex‘s life in Montecito and his strained relationship with his father King Charles was ridiculed in the the first episode. They referred to him as a “wandering philosopher-prince and bloody great bloke”.

They also poked fun at his deal with Netflix, his ginger hair and his ventures since leaving the royal family.

Prince Harry targeted by Spitting Image’s new series

Spitting Image was one of the most-watched shows in the UK during the 1980s. It ran for 12 years before returning for two more years in 2020. Now it plans to release a YouTube series, with “ideal entertainment for anything with a 21st century attention span”.

The creators promoted the show as: “From The White House to Windsor, from Putin to Paddington via Silicon Valley – it’s fearless, it’s as disgusting as the real people and it’s as hard-hitting as you remember.”

The puppet show featured a caricature of the Duke of Sussex, with bigger ears, nose and a receding hairline. He sat down with Paddington Bear to record a podcast where they interviewed Elon Musk.

Puppet Harry begins: “I’m Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex. Just a regular guy with a title like anyone else who’s fifth in line to the throne.”

But the series hinted at the duke’s previous drug use, which sparked a visa scandal when a rightwing Think Tank sued the US Government to release his documents. It came from the royal’s own admissions of taking illegal substances in his memoir, Spare.

“Oh Pads, you crack me up,” Harry tells the Peruvian Paddington Bear.

“Not that sort of crack. I mean, not that I would have or not that I wouldn’t, but I just meant, like, you make me laugh with or without stuff, you know?”

‘Our truth’

Another Sussex dig came when Harry kept talking about ‘his truth’ and who he ‘truly was’.

It comes after Meghan Markle appeared on the Emma Grede podcast last month. The Duchess of Sussex opened up about her public image being ‘very different’ from when she was an actor on Suits.

When the podcast host asked if the royal what she would change if she did it all again, she had this to say.

“Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth.”

Spitting Image has Prince Harry say on the episode: “I’m here to tell my truth and make a [beep] ton of money out of podcasting, as I don’t have any discernible talent.”

He also chimes in another time with: “That’s right, the show where you get to know us for who we’re truly are…”

In another segment, he’s interviewing a puppet Elon Musk. He compliments the SpaceX Founder: “And the way you’ve cut the American government down to size. I’m trying to do the same with my family.”

Prince Harry’s ‘butler’ does everything for him in Spitting Image sketch

Paddington asks: “Harry, you’re such a moderate achiever. How do you stay at the top of the middle of your game?”

“Well Pads, an early start is important,” Harry replies. “So my butler Perkins gets up at 5am and does a 10k for me. Then when he gets in he wakes me up and Googles to see if I’m still fifth in line to the throne.”

“Fifth in line?” Paddington seems surprised.

Harry scoffs: “Yeah, if Kate and Wills have any more kids I move down another [beep] notch.

“Nutrition is important. So Perkins makes me a bacon sandwich in case Megs has made another one of her rank smoothies.”

“Wow, Harry, people don’t know how tough you’ve got it,” the bear sympathises.

“Then it’s a session with my accountability coach,” the royal puppet continues. “I think it’s important to be honest and transparent. I haven’t told Megs about it yet.”

When the bear asks if he has a Netflix account – appearing to hint for streaming – Harry admits, “Yeah, it’s got about $9 million in it”.

King Charles also makes an appearance

In the last dig, Prince Harry is making a fake ad for LetterHelp – poking fun at his role at mental health company BetterUp.

He said they can “get the king to write one for you” if you want to get a day off work.

They then have the puppet pretending to be on the phone as Harry says: “Could I speak directly to my daddy, please?”

It then appears the person on the other line hangs up. The joke was referring to the duke’s recent plea to speak to his father after he says the king cut all contact.

King Charles made another appearance in the vodcast, but this time, in a sketch between Sir Keir Starmer and President Donald Trump. The US head of state was bullying the Prime Minister, who then calls out that Charles wasn’t a fan of it.

He says: “Look I have got a letter from the king which says you’re not allowed to attack me anymore.”
