Kate Middleton received a heartfelt compliment from French First Lady Brigitte Macron yesterday, and the touching moment was captured by an expert lip reader.

As French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte arrived in the UK for a historic state visit, they were greeted at RAF Northolt by Prince William and Princess Kate.

The pair exchanged smiles and handshakes, with President Macron offering an air kiss to Kate’s hand.

Meanwhile, Brigitte Macron warmly embraced the Princess with a double cheek kiss.

Professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman told The Mirror that Brigitte greeted Kate with a sincere, “So good,” before adding a quietly powerful three-word compliment: “You look great.”

The brief yet meaningful praise appeared to be in reference to Kate’s radiant appearance and strength as she continues to recover from her cancer journey.

The Princess of Wales, 43, has only recently returned to select public duties after a period of preventative chemotherapy.

Kate wore a soft blush Christian Dior ensemble paired with royal jewels, Princess Diana’s pearl drop earrings and one of Queen Elizabeth II’s pearl necklaces. This marked her first time wearing the French fashion house.

Jeremy Freeman also noted that President Macron warmly told the couple: “Thank you, thank you very much, thank you. It’s good to see you,” as he shook hands with William and greeted Kate.

Kate put on a ‘brave face’

Kate has spoken candidly in recent weeks about her recovery.

During a recent visit to Colchester Hospital, she shared, “You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal’. But actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”

She added, “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer. But you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”

Despite these challenges, the Princess has resumed selected royal duties.

Her presence at today’s welcome, followed by her dazzling appearance at the evening’s state banquet at Windsor Castle, signals a steady return to royal life.

French state visit

After greeting the Waleses, King Charles hosted the Macrons at a grand state banquet. The banquet was attended by 160 guests, including Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John, and Dame Kristin Scott Thomas.

In a powerful speech delivered in both English and French, the king spoke of the “deep cultural, political and historic bonds” between Britain and France.

He urged both nations to stand “ever closer” in the face of global threats, including terrorism, cyberattacks, and irregular migration.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales was a vision of royal elegance.

Kate donned a crimson silk Givenchy gown by Sarah Burton, which she paired with Princess Diana’s iconic Lover’s Knot tiara and Queen Elizabeth II’s chandelier earrings.

The royal family spared no expense in showcasing Britain’s heritage.

The banquet was held in St George’s Hall. It featured a menu by chef Raymond Blanc, which included summer vegetables, Rhug Estate chicken, elderflower jelly, and a custom cocktail.

As reported by the BBC, English sparkling wine, French grand cru, and a 1996 Château Haut-Brion were also served.

Earlier, Macron addressed Parliament. The President called for stronger European security, reduced dependence on China and the U.S., and a ceasefire in Gaza.

The three-day visit marks the first by an EU leader since Brexit and signals a “reset” in Franco-British relations.
