Prince Harry and King Charles could be on the brink of reconciliation following an alleged “peace summit” between aides, but Prince William isn’t on the same page, according to reports.

Prince Harry and King Charles’ private aides have reportedly held a secret meeting in hopes to reunite the estranged royal relatives.

However, several reports claim that Prince William isn’t ready for reconciliation.

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex leaves the Royal Courts of Justice, central London, after the 2nd and final day of his appeal against a High Court ruling on his legal claim against the Home Office over the level of security he receives while he is in the UK, April 2025.

Prince William ‘not invited’ to peace summit king and Prince Harry

“The important issue is that Prince William and his representatives were not invited,” royal expert Ian Pelham Turner claimed to Fox News Digital.

“I feel that this was a warning shot across William’s bows that Charles is king – not him… It may also be a stark warning that Charles will decide what happens during his reign, not William.”

Reports claim that Meredith Maines, the Duke of Sussex’s chief of staff and communications director flew from California to London to meet with the king’s communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae, as per the Mail on Sunday.

Liam Maguire, who deals with the UK press covering Harry and Meghan Markle, was also said to be present.

Royal Insider has contacted Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and Prince Harry’s representatives for comment.

Prince Harry’s arrangements in the UK

The meeting was said to take place at Royal Over-Seas League, a private club, just minutes away from Clarence House, the king’s London residence.

“It is a sign from King Charles that he wants peace with Harry and Meghan and to meet his grandchildren,” Turner continued.

According to Fox News Digital, Maines was in London to oversee meetings linked to Harry’s patronages.

The visit is understood to have been routine and part of ongoing arrangements.

King Charles and Prince Harry ‘moving toward’ reunion

A source claimed to the Mail on Sunday that this was the “first step towards reconciliation between Harry and his father”.

“Everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk,” the source added.

Meanwhile, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News that Prince William likely knew of the meeting. However, Fitzwilliams believes that William chose not to get involved.

He said: “The king is still battling cancer and is in his late 70s. He wants a relationship with his grandchildren, whom he has hardly met. He is also temperamentally more accommodating than William.

“But [William] cannot trust the Sussexes. They must know it. The prospect of seeing the Sussexes at royal events would enrage the monarchy’s loyal supporters. … Of course, reconciliation is desirable [for the king]. It would, however, come at a price.”
