Sweet reason Queen Camilla's engagement ring was chosen by King Charles
Camilla's engagement ring is a family heirloom...While Kate Middleton wears Princess Diana’s iconic sapphire engagement ring, Queen Camilla‘s own jewellery is just as sentimental.
The monarch was previously married to Princess Diana between the years 1981 and 1996 before they divorced.
Clarence House first announced King Charles and Queen Camilla were engaged in February 2005, and they tied the knot in April of that year. The then Prince of Wales got down on one knee to pop the question. However, they only confirmed Queen Camilla’s engagement ring was a family heirloom, so what is the history behind it?

What engagement ring did Queen Camilla get?
Queen Camilla’s engagement ring has been in the royal family for decades, believed to have belonged to Charles’ grandmother, The Queen Mother.
While it was not the royal’s engagement ring herself, she was seen wearing the piece back in the 1980s.
Reports say the diamond ring was a present from King George VI after she gave birth to Queen Elizabeth II, their first daughter.
It’s believed Charles chose the jewellery piece for his future wife since he had a close relationship with his grandmother.
After the announcement of their engagement, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip expressed their “warmest good wishes” for the pair. Charles’ sons said they were “delighted” for their father.
The pair wed in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall after a short two-month engagement. Only 28 guests witnessed the ceremony, but this did not include the late Queen. But she and the Duke of Edinburgh did attend a religious blessing which followed and hosted a reception for the newlyweds.
Their wedding had to be postponed one day following the death of Pope John Paul II, as his funeral was taking place on the same day.

How much is Camilla’s engagement ring worth?
Queen Camilla’s engagement ring is a platinum art deco design. It features a five-carat emerald-cut diamond in the centre of the band, with additional diamond baguettes on the sides.
It’s reported to be worth anything between £80,000 and £215,000. The ring would have cost roughly £76,000 at the time, but due to the family heritage and link to the royals, it’s value is believed to be much higher.
It’s not the first time Camilla has worn pieces owned by The Queen Mother. She has also worn the Greville Tiara, which The Queen Mother inherited from Dame Margaret Greville, a British philanthropist. The stunning tiara was designed by Lucien Hirtz of Boucheron in Paris in 1921. Camilla wore the the headpiece on several occasions, including a state banquet in 2006 and the State Opening of Parliament in 2019.
