King Charles may feel “cautious and wary” about accepting Prince Harry’s latest peace offering, reportedly an invitation to attend the 2027 Invictus Games in the UK.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital: “King Charles, while cautious and wary, might attend the Invictus Games. But of course, he prefers all private matters to remain private. In addition, there are many conflicts with the royal schedule, let alone Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday during the games.”

King Charles ‘wary’ about attending Invictus Games

The Games, founded by Prince Harry in 2014, hold deep personal significance for the Duke of Sussex.

He is said to be hopeful that the event could bring about a public show of unity with his father.

But Hilary warned: “For Harry, it’s about what he can gain. For the royals, it’s about what they have to lose. Harry wants to be included. He misses not only the UK but many aspects of royal privileges. However, he hasn’t been successful in any of his endeavours. For the royals, more disclosures and scandals are concerning.

“They simply don’t need Harry around, particularly not Prince William, who is resolute regarding any reconciliation being a huge mistake.”

He misses not only the UK but many aspects of royal privileges.

While the reported decision to invite royals lies with the Invictus committee, many see a potential appearance by King Charles as a meaningful gesture.

Helen Helliwell, CEO of the Invictus Games in Birmingham, told PEOPLE: “We would be delighted if members of the royal family were able to attend and would very much welcome their presence.”

Behind the scenes, quiet steps toward healing are seemingly underway.

A recent meeting in London between Harry’s communications team and the king’s aides was described by the Mail on Sunday as a “first step toward reconciliation”.

However, trust remains a major barrier, according to Hilary.

Meanwhile, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said a reconciliation is “desirable” for Harry but is considered “unlikely that William wants any contact“.

Latest on Prince Harry and King Charles reconciliation

Since leaving royal duties in 2020, Harry and wife Meghan Markle have spoken openly about their rift with the monarchy through interviews, documentaries, and Harry’s memoir Spare.

However, many believe that these revelations have permanently damaged ties.

Even so, there’s some hope Charles might wish to reconnect, especially as he continues cancer treatment.

Speaking to the BBC in May, Prince Harry admitted: “I don’t know how much longer my father has. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”

Whether the Invictus Games 2027 become a turning point or just another missed opportunity remains to be seen.
