Prince Andrew’s daughter, Princess Beatrice, has been cruelly mocked on social media over a video of her appearing at an event.

The royal, daughter to Andrew and Sarah Ferguson the Duchess of York, is first cousin to Prince William and Harry.

While she is less active in The Firm as her cousins, she remains ninth in line to the British throne, and is the niece of King Charles III. Both Princess Beatrice and sister Eugenie have careers outside of the royal family.

Cruel video mocks royal

The video of Beatrice at the 2018 Met Gala is doing the rounds again. She was the first royal to attend the elite fashion event after two decades, wearing a purple gown, black clutch bag and gold headpiece.

However, social media users have been editing the clip, slowing down the video to make it appear Prince Andrew’s daughter appears slow-moving with wide eyes.

One social media user, under the name ZaeReacts slammed the royal for reportedly not blinking – when in the clip you can actually see Princess Beatrice blinking more than once.

“Did y’all see this creepy video going around of Prince Andrew’s daughter?” before saying it ‘creeped’ him out.

The video has been shared on various social media platforms in a bid to get views and reactions.

However, Beatrice was defended in the comments, with one person comparing her eyes to Queen Victoria.

Another pointed out opening your eyes wider helps with photos: “It’s a good technique for not blinking on camera.”

A third added: “Leave her alone! She’s my favourite royal.”

While a fourth commented: “Models train themselves to keep their eyes open longer than usual during photoshoots, especially during rapid shots, also known as burst mode. It’s not demonic, a single blink can ruin a perfect frame.”

Princess Beatrice has grown up in the spotlight, appearing at royal events, so it’s no surprise Prince Andrew’s daughter has learned a few techniques!

Princess Beatrice’s eyes are down to genetics, as she is often compared to her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria.

She, as well as her cousins, are descended from the late monarch, and Queen Elizabeth II was Victoria’s great-great granddaughter.

Royal fans have pointed out she shares her ancestor’s facial features, particularly her eyes and her mouth.

Beatrice was even name dafter the youngest of Queen Victoria’s daughters.

The royal also had a small role in the 2009 film The Young Victoria about her ancestor, playing a lady-in-waiting in the flick. The historic piece was produced by her mother Sarah Ferguson.
