Prince Harry's 'sad question to Princess Eugenie' at royal event without Meghan Markle
It reportedly happened at King Charles' coronation in 2023
Prince Harry reportedly whispered a comment to his cousin Princess Eugenie at a royal event in 2023, and it seemingly reveals just how raw the tensions between him and his family remain behind palace doors.
During King Charles’ coronation in 2023, the Duke of Sussex appeared visibly isolated, attending the ceremony alone without Meghan Markle or their children.
While the rest of the royal family gathered in unity, Harry stood apart. One telling exchange was recently deciphered in a new Channel 5 documentary, Lip-Reading the Royals: The Secret Conversations.

Prince Harry’s ‘whisper’ to Princess Eugenie
Professional lip readers Nicola Hickling and decoded a tense and revealing exchange between Harry and Princess Eugenie.
As the ceremony concluded and royals began to exit Westminster Abbey, Nicola said Harry looked “visibly frustrated” and “confided” in Eugenie.
According to Nicola, Harry reportedly told Eugenie: “I’ve spent five hours with my dad in his office and not a friendly text from either.”
Nicola said: “He looks so disappointed and so disillusioned with why no communication was sent to him.”
The documentary noted that Harry was “possibly” referring to his brother, Prince William, and father, King Charles.
I’ve spent five hours with my dad in his office and not a friendly text from either.
The duke has been estranged from his family since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Nicola claimed that Harry went on to ask: “Why hasn’t anybody contacted me? I was here, I was just sitting there.”
Princess Eugenie is reportedly one of the few family members who still maintains regular contact with the Sussexes. She is said to have responded with a gentle but cautious smile.
The revelation adds fresh strain to Harry’s publicly declared desire for reconciliation.
In a BBC interview earlier this year, Harry spoke candidly about the fractured relationships with his loved ones.
“There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious,” he expressed.
Harry added that he had forgiven his family, but admitted: “Some members of my family will never forgive me [for his memoir Spare]. It would be nice to have that reconciliation part now. If they don’t want that, that’s entirely up to them.”

Lip reading experts ‘decode’ royal family’s conversations
The Channel 5 documentary also uncovered another private moment, this time involving Harry and Meghan Markle at the 2018 Service of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, just six months after their royal wedding.
Lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling decoded the conversation, revealing a moment of quiet intensity between the couple.
According to Nicola, Meghan told Harry: “Take advantage of the situation.”
Harry reportedly asked, “Today?”, to which Meghan replied: “Do it tonight.”
Then came Harry’s pointed response: “You do realise that this is the end?”
“Yeah, I do know,” Meghan calmly confirmed.
Royal historian Dr Tessa Dunlop weighed in, suggesting the exchange could hint at early signs of the couple’s plans to step away from royal life.
“It suggests the Sussexes may have been considering their exit far earlier than many realised,” Tessa speculated.
These newly revealed conversations offer a rare insight into Prince Harry’s emotional state during some of the most pivotal royal moments in recent years.
They also come in the wake of a reported secret meeting between aides of Harry and King Charles, sparking speculation about an eventual reunion.
While Harry insists he’s ready to move forward, the question remains: Is the rest of the royal family ready to meet him there?
