Prince William and Princess Charlotte watch Lionesses win the Euros in sweet video
What an incredible win for the young royal to witness!
Lionesses fans couldn’t get enough of Prince William and Princess Charlotte at yesterday’s Women’s Euros final – and were delighted to see royal involvement with the celebrations after the big win.
England beat Spain after a thrilling penalty shootout on Sunday evening in Basel, Switzerland, to retain the Euros championship.
And amid all the joy being shared online after Chloe Kelly scored the winning penalty, Prince William and Princess Charlotte‘s contributions were also celebrated as they played their part at the occasion.

Fans had been touched to see the royal father and daughter day out at the football, with one social media user declaring: “It’s wonderful to see Charlotte with her dad.”
Prince William and Prince George, 12, have previously been pictured together supporting Aston Villa on several occasions. But fans were particularly impressed with his sister, who has also previously cheered on the Lionesses, and her inspiring words of encouragement.
“Good luck Lionesses!” William and Charlotte said ahead of Sunday’s final.
And after the game, a statement from the pair added: “What a game! Lionesses, you are the champions of Europe. We couldn’t be prouder of the whole team. Enjoy this moment England. W & Charlotte.”

But in a video released on Instagram following the Lionesses’ victory, the young royal could be seen beaming as she watched her dad applaud England’s players, as well as congratulate them individually on the podium as medals were handed out. The Prince of Wales even shared his best wishes with a few hugs, too!
Additionally, the post’s caption read: “An incredible night for @lionesses and @england in Basel. Congratulations to Sarina, the team and all the support staff. Champions!”
A sweet photo also showed William with his arm around Charlotte as they watched the Lionesses celebrate their win on the pitch.

Meanwhile, social media users commenting on the post seemed almost as pleased at seeing the heir to the throne and his daughter in the video as they were at the big win!
“Such a beautiful video!” one person remarked, amid a flurry of heart emojis alongside their words. “I’m very happy that Princess Charlotte was there to witness this historical moment for women’s football in England. Congratulations again to the Lionesses.”
Another fan agreed: “I’m so glad Charlotte was there to see it! Massive congratulations to the Lionesses.”
A third onlooker wrote: “I think it’s great that the prince went to see the game with his daughter and not only celebrated the victory, but also showed his joy by hugging the players.”
Furthermore, a fourth person was also chuffed with how enthused Prince William appeared. They added: “I love that he was hugging the team as they came past him. It would have been nice if Charlotte could have come down to the platform with him. Well done Lionesses.”
King Charles’ ‘appreciation and admiration’ for Lionesses
Meanwhile, King Charles also offered his well wishes, saying in a statement: “For more years than I care to remember, England fans have sung that famous chant ‘football’s coming home’.
“As you return home with the trophy you won at Wembley three years ago, it is a source of great pride that, through sporting skill and awesome teamwork, the Lionesses have made those words ring true.
