Kate Middleton's 'true feelings' about reconciliation with Meghan Markle: 'Already causing a big headache'
The idea of reconciling with Meghan is reportedly a "headache" for Kate
As signs of a potential reconciliation emerge between Prince Harry and King Charles, royal insiders are now questioning whether the same could happen between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Earlier this month, reports surfaced that aides from both Harry and Charles’ teams had met for a private “peace summit”.
As the king, 76, and his youngest son, 40, seemingly make their first tentative moves toward reconciliation, attention has turned to another fractured relationship in line: Kate and Meghan.
However, royal sources claim the alleged tension between them shows no signs of easing.
It’s believed that Harry and Meghan have no contact with Kate and her husband, Prince William.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle reconciliation
“If Harry and Charles reconcile, then Kate and Meghan will need to do the same,” a royal insider told Heat.
“There’s no point in trying to heal the family drama if they’re not willing to cooperate. But it’s already causing a big headache. Neither Kate nor Meghan seem interested in that outcome.”
The source added: “Kate feels very strongly about staying out of it all. As far as she’s concerned, she’s been through enough. Meghan’s checked out of the royal drama and doesn’t see the point in moving backwards.”
For the past year, Kate has been focusing on her health following her cancer battle.
If Harry and Charles reconcile, then Kate and Meghan will need to do the same.
According to insiders, the Princess of Wales is highly wary about any attempts to reconnect with Meghan, fearing that any private conversations could quickly be made public.
Regarding the infamous bridesmaid dress incident, Kate reportedly felt as if the story was “twisted”, and she “never got to clear her name”.
The insider added that if any communication between Kate and Meghan were to happen, the Princess of Wales would require “a very genuine apology” and “multiple witnesses present”.
But even that possibility remains distant. Meghan, the source said, “has far too many more important things to be getting on with,” and reportedly believes it’s Kate who should be “extending the olive branch”.
Do Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle get along?
While the so-called “Fab Four” (William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan) once presented a united front, the relationship between the Sussexes and the Waleses reportedly began to unravel well before Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties in 2020.
In her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan claimed it was Kate who made her cry over a disagreement about her daughter Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, not the other way around, as previously reported.
Harry later doubled down on the family tension in his memoir Spare.
He described an alleged disagreement between Meghan and Kate over a comment about “baby brain”. At the time, Kate was pregnant with her son, Prince Louis.
According to Harry, Kate took offence and demanded an apology. “We’re not close enough for you to talk about my hormones,” she allegedly told Meghan.
He also detailed an awkward moment at the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018, when Meghan borrowed Kate’s lip gloss, a seemingly trivial gesture that, according to Harry, left Kate visibly uncomfortable.
“Small clash of styles, maybe?” he wrote. “But it left a little mark.”
Meghan further reflected on this culture clash in the couple’s Netflix docuseries. She recalled that as “a hugger”, she was surprised by the formal distance maintained by William and Kate.
Prince Harry wants a reconciliation with the royal family
While Kate reportedly remains cautious about a reconciliation and Meghan is distant, Prince Harry is increasingly desperate to reconnect with his family.
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious,” Harry said in a BBC interview earlier this year.
The insider added to Heat that the burden of the reported rift is taking a toll on Harry.
They claimed that Harry feels “slightly worried that if he does make amends, Meghan will be furious”.
