Princess Beatrice made a rare public appearance at Buckingham Palace today as she celebrated England women’s recent Euros win, and introduced her youngest daughter, Athena, to the world for the first time.

The family joined thousands of fans lining The Mall to cheer on the Lionesses following their dramatic penalty shootout victory over Spain in the final held in Basel, Switzerland, on July 27.

While no working royals officially attended the parade, Princess Beatrice, 36, stepped out informally alongside husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, their daughters Sienna, three, and seven-month-old Athena, as well as Edoardo’s son, Christopher Woolf.

In images obtained by the MailOnline, Beatrice, dressed down with her hair tied back, was seen lovingly stroking baby Athena’s face as her husband cradled the child.

The family’s attendance at the parade was a surprise, especially as Beatrice is not a working royal and usually keeps her children out of the public eye.

Fans enthusiastically waved England flags as they watched the Lionesses roll past on an open-top bus.

The victory parade culminated in front of Buckingham Palace, where England captain Leah Williamson lifted the trophy in front of an elated crowd.

The team, wearing England scarves and white Nike T-shirts, danced on stage to live performances and took photos with fans as the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth played on.

Speaking through tears on stage, Leah said: “This is unbelievable. Probably one of the best things we’ve ever, ever been a part of. Thank you for coming out.”

Although Prince William and Princess Charlotte did not attend the parade, they supported the team in person during the final in Basel.

The Prince of Wales presented medals to both the English and Spanish teams following the match.

Was Princess Beatrice’s baby born prematurely?

Meanwhile, the celebrations marked baby Athena’s first public sighting since her early arrival in January 2025.

The baby, now seventh in line to the throne, was born prematurely on January 22. She weighed just 4 pounds and 5 ounces.

In a moving essay published in British Vogue in March, Beatrice opened up about Athena’s early birth.

“Nothing quite prepares you for the moment when you realise your baby is going to arrive early,” she wrote. “There’s so little control. Will she arrive healthy? Will there be complications? How will you juggle the rest of family life while trying to keep a tiny human safe and well?”

She continued: “What I learnt in this process has been humbling: understanding so much more about our remarkable human bodies, but also, more than anything, what we don’t know.

Nothing quite prepares you for the moment when you realise your baby is going to arrive early.

While Athena is doing well today, Beatrice revealed the experience left a lasting emotional imprint.

She said: “It took more than a few weeks for the tears of relief to dry and for life with our healthy baby to feel real.”
