Princess Charlotte's name was 'missing' ahead of Euro 2025 appearance with Prince William
Princess Charlotte's name was notably absent from the Court Circular
Princess Charlotte made a surprise appearance with Prince William at the women’s Euro 2025 final in Basel, Switzerland, but it was quickly noticed that her name was missing from the royal family’s official record of the outing.
On July 27, the 10-year-old joined her dad at St. Jakob-Park stadium to cheer on England in the final against Spain.
Prince William, 43, attended in his role as Patron of the Football Association. Charlotte’s appearance marked her first public attendance at a senior England women’s match.
Fans were delighted to see the young royal passionately supporting the Lionesses.
However, her name was notably absent from the Court Circular, the monarchy’s official log of royal engagements. There seems to be a simple reason why.

Princess Charlotte’s name ‘missing’ from Court Circular
The July 27 entry read: “The Prince of Wales, Patron, the Football Association, having been received at EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg by His Majesty’s Consul-General for the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein (Mr. Richard Shackleton), this evening attended the Union of European Football Associations Women’s Euro Final between England and Spain at St. Jakob-Park, Basel, Switzerland.”
The record, which came from Kensington Palace, only mentioned Prince William and did not reference Princess Charlotte.
The likely reason Charlotte wasn’t named in the entry is simple: she is not a working royal.
Although she has accompanied her parents on several public outings, her appearances are considered unofficial until she takes on formal duties as an adult.
Despite this, the Wales children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, have occasionally been named in the Court Circular when attending significant royal events.
They were all listed in the entries for Trooping the Colour on June 14 and the 80th anniversary of VE Day on May 5.
However, the omission is not uncommon. For instance, neither George nor Charlotte were mentioned in the July 13 Wimbledon Championships entry.
This is despite attending the men’s singles final with William and Kate.
Like Charlotte’s surprise appearance at the Euros, George and Charlotte’s Wimbledon outing wasn’t announced ahead of time. This may explain why their names didn’t appear in the Court Circular.

Was Princess Charlotte at the Euro Final?
Sunday, July 27, was a special one for the father-daughter duo.
Charlotte, wearing a navy polka-dot dress, smiled brightly as she cuddled up to Prince William in a photo shared to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram account.
The post read: “Let’s go, @Lionesses!”
In a video released following the Lionesses’ victory, Charlotte could be seen grinning beside her father. The Prince of Wales offered hugs and handshakes to the players during the post-match ceremony.
“An incredible night for @Lionesses and @England in Basel,” read another Instagram post from the Prince and Princess of Wales’ account. “Congratulations to Sarina, the team, and all the support staff. Champions!”

Adding to the excitement, Princess Charlotte also had a royal run-in with Princess Leonor, 19, and Infanta Sofia, 18, daughters of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain.
The Spanish royals travelled to Switzerland to support their national team. They were seated near William and Charlotte during the match.
Behind-the-scenes photos showed the young royals mingling at halftime.
How lovely to see these young princesses together.

The official Prince and Princess of Wales’ Twitter account shared the photo with the caption: “Bring on the second half! May the best team win.”
Fans online were thrilled.
“Today’s photo is historic. How lovely to see these young princesses together,” one commenter wrote.
