King Charles' 'cherished' Balmoral residence prepares to 'close its doors'
Royal fans are waving goodbye to Charles' beloved Scottish home
King Charles is readying Balmoral Castle to close, despite his love for the residence.
The estates team, that work hard to maintain the various royal residences and welcome a slew of royal fans, are closing the doors on the outside world in just a couple of weeks.

King Charles’ beloved Scottish bolthole Balmoral Castle to close
Balmoral Castle, an idyllic royal residence in Scotland, has been welcoming visitors all year, since April 1.
Later this month, on August 10, the royal’s Scottish home will no longer permit guests for their guided tours.
The closure is just seasonal. But many royal observers are likely disappointed to miss out on a glimpse into the lives of the royals.
Currently, members of the public can visit the historic ballroom as well as tour the sprawling gardens.
Prior to the closure, two grand events are set to be held.

Events at Balmoral Castle
A family day and an evening cinema screening held outdoors are set to be hosted on August 2.
The castle will then close for the rest of the summer. It will eventually reopen in October, where guests can explore the grounds.
The idyllic home, which has been cherished by the royals since 1853, was much loved by King Charles’ mother, Queen Elizabeth.
Queen Victoria was also fond of the bolthole, describing it as “my dear paradise in the Highlands”.
King Charles, of course, has full use of the stunning estate, but usually opts to stay at his home on the grounds, Birkhall.
Charles and Camilla’s honeymoon spot
Birkhall is favoured so much by the king and Camilla that they even honeymooned at the residence following their nuptials in 2005.
To celebrate their anniversaries, they often return to Birkhall to mark the occasion.
King Charles was pictured in Scotland just days ago. He was seen donning a tartan kilt at Scrabster Harbour in Thurso, northern Scotland.
Queen Elizabeth’s love for Balmoral Castle
Queen Elizabeth II’s love for Balmoral has been well reported over the decades. She once detailed her fondness for the residence, stating: “You can go out for miles and never see anybody, there are endless possibilities.”
Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022.
In July of last year, Balmoral Castle opened the doors to inside the castle to the public for the first time in history.
The stunning home welcomed visitors into the “New Era” of the estate, according to the official Balmoral Castle website, with exclusive ticket-only opportunities and the opening of the new restaurant.
In recent years, Charles and Camilla have led the redevelopment of existing gardens, as well as the addition of new garden areas.
Balmoral even boasts a new restaurant, café, and gift shop.
The royal family typically gathers at Balmoral to enjoy the summer holidays. Although it is yet to be confirmed, the beautiful grounds are a favourite with the monarchy at this time of year.
